For better or worse, Arthur is much lighter than he appears, even with the hulking greatcoat, and is a proficient scrambler in his own right - so as soon as the edge is within reach Arthur's got a grip, and that makes the rest of the tugging a lot easier.
And he only rests on his knees for a moment, mostly in relief, before he clambers back to his feet again and gives his rescuer a warm smile. The coat does nothing to make him look like less of a mess, when he's got half an ear missing, rough scars across his right temple and forehead, and a clean knife slice across his throat, but the smile is genuine in amongst the mess of stubble and a half-tame mustache.
