amara / borderlands

a. methuselah's feast

Sitting upright in the snow, Amara does two things: first, she pats herself down. Guns and ECHO device not on her. Not ideal. From this, she immediately notices that her Siren tattoos no longer glow and that the connection that has existed since birth is no longer there. She can't element switch to ice for resistance to the atmosphere or fire for some warmth. Can't summon her Phasetrance to break a tree in half from frustration.

Amara flops back down in the snow with a loud groan. If she got got by Tyreen and the last few months have been a dying fever dream, they're gonna get the shittiest review ever.

She pretends the high possibility of hypothermia is nought as she makes her way slowly into town, jeans and boots sodden and regretting wearing her crop top and leather vest instead of a full snow kit-- this is just like Xylourgous all over again! Psh, what do you mean it's that cold?

This thought makes her stop in her tracks, just after she clomps into the hut and accepts the offered hospitality. To the closest person: "Hey. You heard anyone mention Gythian? What planet are we even on right now?"

Alternatively, she finds her guns. Typical that she'd ended up here when she was moving a load of crap to sell! Amara irritably spins the barrel on the Jakob's iron revolver.

Better than nothing. But not as good as her beautiful Flakker. To anyone also requipping their gear, she comments, "You gotta respect the dedication to the bit of someone looting a potentially frozen corpse and then just donating their gear to a community hall."

A beat, then she frowns slightly.

"Ah, I'd be hypocritical to claim I'd never done the same."

b. lying next to you, cw injury/blood

[there is a non-zero amount of luck involved in this rigmarole. when the ground gives way, amara does not happen to be out on a lake.

...that's about it.

it's experience with traversing extremely hostile landscapes that stops her from panicking, but poor luck that gets her landing hard on her side, more than a few scrapes and deep scratches from skidding down the sides of the small ravine she's found herself in.

amara pulls herself up and looks up to the sky.]

Yo, if anyone saw that, it was definitely intentional and extremely cool of me!

[she doesn't know if anyone's around, but might as well try calling before she has to get out herself. or... fight a bear that was attracted by the noise she's making. wouldn't be the first time.]
