Tales From The Northern Territories #1

TALES FROM THE NORTHERN TERRITORIES #1

Greetings, Interlopers! Welcome to the first of your bi-monthly updates, known as Tales From The Northern Territories! The purpose of these little ‘newsletters’, is to touch base with players on how things are going within the game and the fallout of the event of the previous month. In addition, these updates will also provide some extra information on NPCs, along with any additional happenings that might be going on within the game - which may be hints towards the upcoming Test Drive Meme!

Before we jump into things, here’s some dates for your diary for this month:

Activity Check — 1st - 5th
Test Drive Meme — 10th - 15th
IC/OOC Meme — 15th
Reserves — 20th - 24th
Applications — 25th - Month End

As a reminder, there will be no event this month. Players may still play out from the September event, or create their own open post for more general posts. They can also use TDM prompts in their opens posts, too!

There will also be no CR Meme this month, instead these will shift to bi-monthly, with CR Memes alternating with IC/OOC Memes that will be posted by mods. Examples of such may be Memes like the Hearts Meme, Superlatives Meme, IC Anon Confessions, etc. If you have an idea for a Meme, please don’t hesitate to send a message to the mods!

With that all being said, without much further ado, let’s get into things! Here’s your October Tales From The Northern Territories!

SEPTEMBER'S EVENT

The Aurora Auroras will continue into the month of October on sporadic nights and will be less in number compared to September. The ghosts will also continue, but it seems as time goes on the ‘ghosts’ brought to life by the Aurora’s energy will grow weaker. They may not last as long, or seem faded and less clear to behold - it is as if the energy of these moments are losing their connection, and there isn’t as much for the Aurora to pick up.

The Hour Of The Wolf Thanks to the efforts of the Interlopers, the wolf situation has been largely dealt with. The wolves have learned that the Interlopers are not to be messed with, and what remains of the packs will avoid the town for the most part. Some wolf packs may continue to descend upon the town - but the frequency is very much reduced to maybe two or three attacks a month.

It Speaks For the most part, the Voice has begun to grow quiet. It has either killed Interlopers (which could be NPC Interlopers, something to handwave if players wish to play with this), or has been beaten back - and has retreated. Some Interlopers may continue to experience hearing the Voice for some time, with the Voice playing the long game with them. It is certainly not over. It knows you. It will come for you, one way or another.

NEW HAPPENINGS IN OCTOBER

Sightings of blood can be found around the Outskirts and town of Milton. It is often easy to miss, but eagle-eyed Interlopers may note steady droplets of blood forming trails. They’re dotted all over the place, as if something is moving around the town. These trails seem to grow more in frequency down towards Paradise Farm. But nothing else of note can be found. Most disconcertingly of all: the trails of blood have no footprints beside them. Not man, nor animal. Nothing.

The sounds of a dog barking can be heard on occasion on the edges of town, or out in the woods at all times of the day and night. Paw prints can be found (although somewhat difficult to distinguish from wolf tracks unless one is skilled in tracking) but no sight of the dog can be seen. Attempts to track the dog will come up fruitless, even by the most skilled of Interlopers, and it will not be lured by traps set.

NPCs

Methuselah The old man has been true to his word, and has very much been keeping himself out within the wilds. As a Nomad, he is far happier out there - this is his life. Interlopers may have found him, should they have ventured out, and he has always been happy to share his fire, food and company with them.

However, close to the middle of the month, he will be returning to town. His sled will be loaded with fresh deer, rabbits and fish he has hunted, along with foragables he has collected. He’s been busy. He will be returning to the Community Hall, and preparations will be beginning.

If questioned, he will explain that there has been another shift, more Newcomers will be joining the Interlopers of Milton. Much like what greeted the first batch of Newcomers, a feast will need to be prepared, and help will need to be organised in tending to those coming in from the wilds. He will be incredibly focused on putting things together, and not have too much time to talk. He does not have the free reign over the supplies left in the Community Hall before the arrival of the Interlopers this time. He will explain that many of the original townsfolk had come together to live in the Hall before their mass exodus/deaths, which had meant much of the work had already been done for him in the set up of things. This time, he will ask for donations from the Interlopers towards the Feast. The first batch of Interlopers will be welcome to attend with the Newcomers. For some it might be a rare chance at a decent meal. He will also graciously accept any help from Interlopers wishing to offer their time in harvesting animals, cooking and setting things out.

And soon enough, more will slowly work their way into the town of Milton.
