"It's okay, Charlie," he says gently, leaning in to grip his friend's forearm lightly. "It- it's fish, mostly, my friend Konstantin and I go fishing nearly every other day. Some of the others trap rabbits, o-or birds, people are trying to raise chickens - occasionally people even bring down deer or a moose, so we have red meat for a while."

He tries to give an encouraging smile. "Sometimes it's just scarce, that's all. But we're doing alright for now, a-and we've got some aside for when things get tight again."
