PART ONE — A SIGN OF THINGS TO COME: The Darkwalker claims another victim, and that is only the beginning of troubles for the Interlopers as they face a month of endless night and green gloom.

PART TWO — POLAR SUN: As June continues, Interlopers are faced with food insecurity as wildlife flees; tensions grow as they face hunger and the Darkwalker's continued influence. On the day of the Summer Solstice, the tension finally breaks and violent chaos descends upon Interlopers.

A SIGN OF THINGS TO COME

WHEN: June 1st, then onwards.
WHERE: Milton area; Lakeside area (Carter Hydrodam).

The evening is quiet and still. May draws to a close and while the sun does not completely set, it dips low enough below the horizonough for the sky to grow a little darkdim with twilight. The midnight sun is almost upon the Northern Territories, the air is warmer than it has ever felt — even if it remains chilly. If this is summer, it is but a gentle brush of reprieve against the unyielding winter. The Interlopers wind down for the night, many turn to their beds to sleep, others sit awake and ponder their existence in this world. They think of home, of loved ones, of their predicament here in this place. The Forest Talkers, the strange beasts and monsters they’ve encountered.

The moon wanes in the skies, nestled amongst the stars. For those still awake to notice, they can see it: slowly, one by one, the stars begin to go out. Then the moon's light is swallowed whole, and a blanket of green gloom descends upon the Northern Territories.

The sky is dark and green and terrible. Many of those will recognise it, what this means and what will come. Others will not understand it, not know what it is that awaits them all.

They will soon find out: the Darkwalker comes.

Under a green sky, a cold fear washes over you — squeezing the breath from your lungs. Interlopers will find themselves overcome with that fear, and everything in their bodies and minds tells them to run. To flee. And so you run, heading for cover. Curtains will be drawn, some may hide under beds, within closets or wardrobes. Some desperately attempt to conceal themselves, make themselves small, unseen. Some Interlopers, in that fear, may rush to friends or loved ones to hide with them, others may simply cower alone — crawling and whimpering away from the night. The fear is irrational, unable to be overcome — even by the bravest or most stoic of Interlopers.

For those within Milton, it is further away but is by no means less potent: Interlopers will find themselves frozen with the constant loom of the Darkwalker’s arrival — even if it does not come to Milton. Those within Lakeside, however, will feel the true force of this presence: more like a knife edge — painfully gripping your heart as it draws close.

The Darkwalker howls: indescribable, unnatural, demonic. Low moans and groans. It comes from the east, the faint booms of footsteps in the distance growing ever nearer. It is coming, once more. It's coming for one of you. And still, you are powerless, unable to do anything. And it is an agony, awaiting its arrival. You cry, you whimper, you cower. Curling up for some shred of comfort, and finding none.

For those in Lakeside, through the fear, they may be able to note the path: a straight line from the east towards Carter Hydrodam. It seems to go on forever, building into a crescendo. Your heart beats so hard you fear it may burst from your chest, as if you might die of fright.

There is an almighty sound; the Darkwalker devours and even with the distance you can hear it. The sound of gnashing teeth, and… laughter. There is no scream, no bright light in the sky — Enola is silent this time. There is only that laughter, echoing off into the night.

The skies do not return to normal. The green gloom hangs in the air. It is done, but it is not yet over. While the overwhelming fear dissolves away, but a kind of… dread remains on the air — almost palpable.


The Darkwalker has devoured another. Braver souls who go out to investigate into Lakeside will find just who has been devoured once they reach the Hydrodam — although it may be a day or two before they will find the body in the medical bay.

At least it is cold enough that the rot does not fully set in — but death will certainly be here.

And this is but the beginning of the Interloper’s troubles.

POLAR SUN

WHEN: The month of June, up to Midsummer’s Eve + Summer Solstice.
WHERE: Milton area; Lakeside area.

In the coming weeks and days, and weeks, the green gloom lingers. From the Darkwalker’s attack, there is no sun. No day, no night. No stars or moon or sun. No Auroras. Just the gloom and biting cold. Life becomes increasingly hard on Interlopers: higher expenditure on fuel — fires and lanterns are imperative to keep the darkness and the cold at bay.

With the green gloom in the air, the wildlife becomes more scarce — as if it has been frightened away into the deeper parts of the wilds. It will be harder to bring in fresh meat in both Milton and Lakeside, and Interlopers will find that they will have to rely on whatever stores they have — and perhaps even rationing for a while.

And it’s not the only thing frightened. Even with the debilitating fear that comes with the Darkwalker’s attack gone, there is still a kind of fear that lingers on the air that slowly eats away at the Interloper’s resolve over time.

Interlopers will find themselves anxious, on edge. Some will be prone to anger in their fear, others prone to fits of melancholy: tearfulness and sorrow. Between the cold, the lack of fresh game and the fear on the air — it’s no wonder spirits are low. Bickering and minor upsets between Interlopers are likely.

They call it the midnight sun, the polar day. It's opposite is the polar night. This is neither and both. On the day of midsummer's eve, that fear on the air is even more palpable. The air feels a little stifling at times, as if the pressure is all off — often quite oppressive, a strange kind of tension. There is something brewing, a low burning thing that begins from the moment Interlopers wake — heavy and sharp in their chest.

’So, Interloper. What will you do now?’ A voice sneers in your ear. The very same voice that has haunted Interlopers since the very beginning. The Darkwalker finally speaks after all these weeks of gloom since its most recent attack. ’When all is gone, when even the sun does not rise? What will you do then?’

A nervousness sits within you as you remember the Darkwalker’s words. What will you do if the sun does not rise? If the darkness is all that is left? If the food runs out? Your wonderings will continue to gnaw away within you. The darkness is hollowing.

’Will you lean on others, like you have always tried to do?’ the voice continues. ’What bonds you hold with them, the ones with those around you. But how strong are they, truly? Can you trust them? Will it matter when your belly is empty and your heart is low? Perhaps it is time to see.

’Never forget, Interloper. I am the Rot. And I will rot within you.’

As the day progresses into the Solstice, that tension lingers in the air, and the wonderings within you continue to wear at you. You find yourself becoming more and more agitated as time goes on. Those feelings that have been brewing for some time now have started to grow close to boiling. You may snap at others, grow restless, become enraged at the tiniest of things — the upsets wildly out of proportion for the smallest slights or issues.

You find your thoughts wandering, too. Perhaps it is to someone you know in this place, or perhaps it is to someone previously unknown to you. Maybe you have an issue with this person, or perhaps the voice’s influence extends further — not only adding to your agitations but creating them, too. A slight, a grudge, a bias.

You feel a bitter gnawing within you. The nightmarish green gloom above you persists and everything bubbles up from within. From the dark, the anger within you become too much. The tension finally snaps.

For some, it might come out as a vicious argument where you air your grievances, or finally let slip the things you’ve been holding close to your chest. A verbal beat down, incredibly hurtful in nature. For others, things may be drawn to getting physical. A literal beat down where your fists grow bruised and bloody, or perhaps even worse. Whatever it is, you want to do damage to someone else — there is darkness here, and so many things come out in the dark, don’t they?

Like a ripple, all around you: all hell breaks loose. Chaos erupts, and the air is filled with violence.

Let’s hope you might stop, or someone else stops you, before someone gets killed.

REPRIEVE

WHEN: Circa three days after the Summer Solstice.
WHERE: Milton.

All things must come to an end, even the most violent of deadly storms. In the midst of the seemingly endless violence of the night, you find yourself outside. Maybe you're fleeing from another Interloper, maybe you're desperately trying to reach someone you care for, maybe you're simply trying to find somewhere new to hide. Interlopers are hunting one another, blood lies on the snow, bodies too — some breathing, some not.

Perhaps it is a trick of the light. Perhaps it's the Darkwalker’s influence still warping your already frayed mind. Or it's the blood in your eyes, your battered and bruised body struggling to get through it all.

In the gloom, you see it. See her.

A woman, dressed in furs, stones and shells glimmering on her chest like armour, stands in the snow before you. Thin and pale, eyes sunken. Her chest heaves with each breath as she looks around with wide eyes. Her hands are bare and bloody. It drips slowly from her fingers. Is it her blood? Or someone else's? You cannot tell, but you cannot mistake how thick it coats her skin.

Her head turns to look at you. You are stunned, but not frightened. Even through the gloom, after a moment or two, her eyes widen in recognition: she knows you.

Slowly and silent, other than her noisy breathing, she draws close to you. Maybe in turn you draw close to her, closing the distance between you. Up close, her eyes are blue, and sad. You cannot mistake the sorrow in them. She is tired, weary. Her hair is dark, worn loose and long. For some, you feel as if you've seen her before, but you can't quite place her face.

Softly, she says your name.

For some, there may be no recognition. This woman is a stranger, who knows your name somehow. She has been silent the past couple of months, after all.

For others, hearing her speak brings a sudden, jarring realisation: this is Enola.

She’s here. Enola. All this time, she’s whispered to you in dreams, in static, in the very air itself.

She raises one hand, dark and dripping in the green light. Lightly, her fingers brush against your chest. You don’t feel the pressure of them, don’t feel the odd heat of blood — only the weight of her stare as she holds your gaze. It’s a long moment of peace in amongst the chaos.

You feel her exhaustion, a tiredness that sinks into your very bones. Apologies, too. You have never known anything like it. But there’s something else too, something that takes a moment or two to put your finger on. Defiance. A renewal. Something shifts in the air, a growing tension, different from the kind that’s been held on the air throughout the month. It’s the coming of a storm, the rolling clouds, the growing rumble of thunder before the first lightning strike.

Enola nods, her expression grave. She pulls away and turns from you — her head lifting towards the skies as she walks. Her arms raise, bloodied hands twisting and tensing before her. They curl, almost into fists, and she makes a gesture: the slow tearing of something huge and invisible before her — a shriek spilling from her lips. A battle-cry, a last stand, a wail of agony. It echoes.

The sky cracks and splits open before you, dazzling light and colours blinding your vision into pure white. The world tilts too hard below your feet, and you don’t remember passing out.

When you awaken, Enola is gone. The skies are clear and blue, the sun is high in the sky. As you pick yourself up from the snow, in the harsh light of the polar day, blood has never looked so red. The horrors of the night laid bare. Interlopers are dead, but the Darkwalker’s influence is gone. For now.

In the wake of Midsummer, all Interlopers can do is try reconcile. Bury the dead, rebuild, lick wounds. But that feeling in the air still remains — that different, new kind of tension that has come with Enola’s appearance. The first of the lightning bolts has struck, but more are coming.

FAQs

A SIGN OF THINGS TO COME

1. Alexander Hilbert has been devoured by the Darkwalker. His remains can be found in the Hydrodam. The following note has been left by Kates concerning his death: ‘Sveta gets possession of his research notes + blood samples + creepy lab journal because it's all in Russian, lmao.’

2. Information on the Darkwalker’s attack can be found here.

3. Usually, after the Darkwalker attacks, the sky would return to normal. This won’t happen. Instead, the usual atmospheric changes that occur during Darkwalker attacks will remain in place as June continues..


POLAR SUN

1. For an idea how the setting appears for June, it's like what you see in the game during the Escape The Darkwalker Challenge. Inside, there'll be a degree of green shades to rooms etc via what comes through windows but with it being lit up via fires and light sources, the gloom will be chased back.


2. Characters are free to use this event to kill NPC Interlopers. Methuselah and Young Bill are off the table, as are two marked NPC Interlopers. Please let Mods know if you intend on doing this for record keeping!

3. These acts of violence can be physical or verbal altercations, players are encouraged to work with the prompt however they'd like! However, anything potentially world-altering (ie. building destruction) must be first discussed with mods.

4. Interlopers under the Darkwalker's influence can be stopped in a number of ways. Showing genuine care and compassion in the face of violence is one way. Knocking an Interloper out is another way. Sometimes killing an Interloper may be needed, or simply restraining them and keeping them locked up somewhere so they can't hurt anyone else until the night is over would also work.

5. Talismans made by Heartman back in March with a Ward Sigil against the Darkwalker will come into effect during this prompt. It's been an ongoing process, with new Interlopers being offered them from their arrival. Players are free to choose what kind of talisman they received, or if they chose to get one at all. Their effectiveness is dependent on the type of blood used on the talisman.

— Animal Blood: Interlopers carrying talismans using blood from animals found in the world, such as deer, rabbits or wolves will find themselves more susceptible to the Darkwalker’s influence and disposition towards violence. They will be much harder to break out of the hold over them, and become almost frenzied state.
— Monster Blood: Interlopers carrying talismans using blood from any creatures or monsters that Interlopers have encountered in their time in the Northern Territories, such as the Serpent from December’s TDM will find there are no negative nor positive effects. The talisman is essentially useless. and Interlopers will fall under the Darkwalker's influence.
— Interloper Blood: Interlopers carrying talismans using blood for Interlopers will be offered protection/resistance from the Darkwalker’s influence and disposition towards violence. They may be slightly affected but will have their wits about them more compared to others. If the blood came from an Interloper with an Aurora Feat — this protection/resistance will be largely increased, an the Interloper may even feel braver, less affected by the fear in the atmosphere.
— No Talisman: Similar to the Monster Blood Talisman, Interlopers will be affected typically by the Darkwalker's influence in due course.

There are no additional affects with an Interloper using their own blood, just if they have an Aurora Feat or not.

6. Animals owned by Interlopers will be more frightened and will want to hide away in the build up — they will be disturbed by the world. Mostly lying down and whining/restlessness. They may display some signs of aggression on occasion, but not to the same degree of humans.

7. Forest Talkers are hidden away and will not be able to be reached during the Solstice.

REPRIEVE

1. Enola can only be met alone, but she will appear to all Interlopers in Milton.

2. Enola will be nowhere to be found afterwards, there are no tracks to be followed. She has simply vanished.

what's the visibility like during the green time? Like dawn/dusk? About how far can one see without additional light?
And are inside places oddly green/dark as well. or are the lights in them just keeping away normal shadows and darkness?

if an interloper's talisman has their own blood is there any additional effect? Levi totally would have used his own while making one with Heartman >>;

Wanted CR: Any and all! Ruby is a bubbly high energy shonen style protagonist with a handful of trauma issues to deal with. Positive and negative cr both come pretty naturally to her.
Unwanted CR: Not so interested in negative cr for the sake of it. But with the current state of the event willing to be a little lenient on that this month.

Lakeside is Ruby's usual hang out. So she's able to get to the body quick to realize what's happened, or start making a dash toward Milton to let the the people know what happened to Hilbert. She had kind of a goofy relationship with him, so she'll be pretty upset that he's gone.

POLAR SUN

So Ruby is a Free Runner and as such has a higher than normal appetite. Which was already pretty darn high on a normal day. As such the lack of food around is going to be hitting her pretty hard. She'll probably end up raiding some other peoples food stores out of desperation to quell her hungry tummy. So definitely willing to have some people catch her in the act of that, or have some negative consequences to her rash actions.

Outside of that Ruby is a highly compassionate and would be willing to try and talk down some interlopers from causing trouble, or physically trying to protect others from getting hurt. She's pretty tough and well trained, but is also still a teenager.

On the flipside! She has a bad habit of bottling things up pretty heavily too. Her current canon point is her coming pretty fresh off a total melt down, so it's totally possible for her to fall back into that. If someone wants this girl to go off on them and get super snappy and maybe a little violent I can offer that as well!

REPRIEVE

No matter how this turns out Ruby will likely be out and about helping with the clean up, patching up wounds, or just doing her best to help folks out after the mess.

Once things are a bit more normal she'll post up a request sheet for anyone that wants something made at the forge.

Event Ideas:

A Sign Of Things To Come: Scratch has never really felt fear in any capacity of the word. I think the closest thing he'll associate this with is just a deep-rotted feeling of awe. The Darkwalker to him is basically the Dark Presence that he knows, and that's a good thing in his eyes, so. He's not going to recognize that it's fear driving him to maybe lie low, but probably interpret it as reverence and excitement that things are finally coming up Scratch.

People are welcome to come seek him out if they're concerned. He won't be seeking anyone else out unless paths cross.

Polar Sun: Just to preface this, this whole event is basically Scratch's jam. He was a vessel for a thing called the Dark Presence and was called the Herald of Darkness because he was setting the scene for even worse things to come. He possessed people with the darkness and turned them into shambling bad things, so, you know, this is all really par for the course for him. He feels like he's home.

All that said, Scratch is already volatile by nature and already murders people without any reason other than it's fun to him. So he will be a spicy boy with everyone. Would love love love some people for him to get into it with, if you want to have a character death, let me facilitate that for you. Otherwise let's just get into some violent physical altercations. I'm down to have Scratch get as messed up bad in the process, too.

Scratch is absolutely doing in an NPC.

As well, Scratch can be found maybe mutilating dead bodies or hacking them up. Human fat is a flammable resource after all, and while he's thriving in the darkness, he likes to be warm. :) Feel free to join him or ask him what the hell is happening.

Reprieve: Basically Scratch is going to do a lot of back-pedalling here and blame the events on his behaviour. He's famous writer Alan Wake, he knows he has anger issues, but he's never wanted to ~kill anyone~ oh no oh dear.

Aurora Feat: Free Runner aka gotta go fast. Kieren's got enhanced sprinting/stamina abilities, but with the caveat that he needs to now eat brains in order to sustain himself. FUN.

Event Ideas:

— A SIGN OF THINGS TO COME Kieren might be up to investigate with being a Free Runner so I imagine he'll be around to head to the dam/join any expedition out to Lakeside to investigate the Darkwalker's attack afterwards.

— POLAR SUN Formal Announcement that Kieren's kicking off cannibalism, albeit zombie-related cannibalism (still counts). Kieren will have an Animal Blood Talisman and I'm going to be having Kieren go rabid without actually going rabid — ie. how zombies act in his canon in their untreated state. Kieren's a Free Runner, and he'll be slowly starving over June with the lack of animal brains. Under the Darkwalker's influence during the Solstice, Kieren will be snapping and getting incredibly violent. He'll be murdering and then eating the brains of an NPC and will generally be in a violent rage and difficult to be reasoned with.

In terms of dealing with him, if anyone would be down for that I would much prefer it to be via non-violent means — restraining him and tying him up somewhere until people can work out what to do with him/until the period ends.

I am also down for Kieren attacking other Interlopers and them getting away from him — which wouldn't be difficult to do. He might be a Free Runner but he's also a zombie, and a skinny beanpole of a boy with very little muscle on him. Maybe he tries beating you with a blunt object? Maybe he bites you? I am DOWN to CLOWN.

— REPRIEVE He won't be meeting Enola, but he'll certainly be coming to his senses. Plenty of room for delicious fallout from The Events. 👀

Canon: Life Is Strange
Aurora Feat: Aurora Call. She's starting to get a better handle on it and use the ability to talk to others, particularly others with Aurora Call. But... if you've heard prayers/bible readings/hymns in your head since January, 100% chance that's been Kate. Sorry, guys.

Event Ideas:

— POLAR SUN Kate has Aurora Call, so she's going to be particularly vulnerable this month, mentally and emotionally. She's going to be particuarly low/prone to depressive episodes and sensitive to the emotions of others. She's going to be trying to keep busy and will likely do her best to keep an eye on Community Hall stores in the face of rationing, etc.

She'll have a Interloper Blood Talisman thanks to Heartman, with will also come with the bonus of having the Aurora Feat — meaning she won't be getting affected all that much by the Solstice Rage. However, I am here to get her fucked up. I don't think I'll get any takers for doing actual damage to her, so I'll likely have an NPC do it but Kate's gonna be falling victim to getting attacked by a fellow Interloper who has some murder in mind for her. I have some tentative plans in place for whoever's saving her at this moment in time but honestly I'm down for making it really suck for her.

In addition, she'll also be trying to quell any rage in other Interlopers which could have varying results! She's here to defeat the Darkwalker with the power of love and friendship. Clinging hugs to stop people/calm them down are on the table, lads.

— REPRIEVE I'm gonna have her meet Enola. So I'm down to have her talk to others about Enola afterwards. Also here for any aftermath stuff with her being injured, etc.

Wanted CR: He's still new so everything honestly! Friends, peers, mentees, troublemakers to discipline or break up, kids to mother hen over, nerds to teach about survival (you can check his app for what he's capable of), buddies to hate cops with, malewives to obsess over cleaning with, fellow old timers that would join him in gawking at modern technology, sparring partners, you name it.

Enemies/rivals/negative CR/people who just don't stomach him well are good with me, too (he's not difficult to dislike!), though I'd prefer to keep it from escalating into serious levels where the characters would want to outright kill each other. Petty gripes, unflattering gossip and/or some thrown punches are all fine.

Unwanted CR: I'm not against shipping if the chemistry is right, but it can take a lot of work as he's preoccupied with survival and is somewhere on the ace spectrum. I'm more than fine with characters showing interest in him, this is just a blanket PSA that it's unlikely to lead anywhere. If things get so dire that there's a need to trade favors though, he'd likely be more blasé about it than people might expect.

Event Ideas:

A SIGN OF THINGS TO COME - he'll probably be caught in the Lakeside for the worst of it. Oops! He'll probably find some place to hole up and just suffer through it. He may or may not go to check the hydrodam once things quiet down, as he's been there recently and met some people who were apparently living there... rip.

POLAR SUN - he'll definitely be trying to find some wildlife to hunt and probably end up trekking long distances with little to show for it, potentially contributing to his irritation. He's used to food scarcity so he will likely take less food for himself and give the rest of his portion to others (kids/teens, the injured, and fighters/protectors would be most likely recipients of extra rations).

I'm not sure in regards of a talisman yet (a little tempted to give him an animal blood one for chaos...) but it's likely that he wouldn't have taken one, in which case he'll be influenced at a normal rate. Down for scuffles and (non-lethal) violence!

I'm not 100% decided yet, but I think I will probably have him kill an NPC while in an altered state, just because he is actually extremely dangerous as an opponent and there's not many chances to showcase it otherwise. It would likely be extremely gruesome as he'd use just his hands and maybe a knife rather than a gun (think eye gore, face ripping, throat opening, neck wringing or similar), and he may end up injuring himself in the process as he has less pure strength than he's used to. He would feel bad about it afterwards once the influence fades and likely increase his efforts to try and contribute to the community.

REPRIEVE - as mentioned above, if he does end up killing somebody he will be sad about it but not let it consume him -- he's killed plenty of people before, as he puts it. However he'd probably still try to "make up for it" by doing more around town.

Even though he started in late may since he got a lot of help, imma say the interlopers have managed to build up one (1) barricade/cover shooter safe spot near the mine entrance. Maybe one finished near the hall and either starts or markings of a handfull of others around town.
Levi'll try to keep going at least the first few days after the Darkwalker comes, but how long that lasts depends on the other characters. Possibly a good thing to fight over, though?

Levi has been saving non-perishable food (dried meat, whatever mushrooms or plants they can store, whatever's left of the supplies from when everyone showed up) in the community hall's basement and at least one other house's. The food in the hall isn't really hidden, but the cache in whatever still-abandoned house is. He's good with sharing and already eats less than he should, but if he notices more than a meal or two's worth going missing from the hall's he'll start standing guard with his rifle.
He'll only be there for a few hours at a time and honestly if you ask he'll probably just give you some early in the month. Later in the month he'll be rationing and won't give people much and will make them wait a day or two before getting more.
He'll try to keep some meat for smoking since they don't know how long this will last. He's more likely to give up his portions than make others go without so...see below i guess.

He'll also be going further into the forest to try and find prey or forage. Early in the month he'll share but after the first week he'll start hording and rationing things.

Levi does not eat as much as he should even in normal situations. And he's a Free Runner and will be using it to hunt. So maybe someone wants to pick him up after he collapses from hunger or physically fight over food with him?

Levi has a talisman with his own blood, so he's as shielded as one can get against the Darkwalker's influence but that's not enough! He's more likely to get into fights trying to protect someone else than to start one and will openly be carrying both his rifle and the backup handgun as things get worse. He also has a knife in that bag with the cute penguins on it.
He's available to step in and protect most PCs at this point, but will be getting more closed off as things get worse.
Levi likes Rorschach so if anyone wants to talk smack about the masked man and piss him off that could work.

Levi's cat will mostly be hidden away very well during this, but sometimes that will be in Levi's pockets. She can also make an appearance if anyone wants Levi to stop them from trying to eat her. This will probably get you shot, though.

I plan to have Levi kill one or two NPCs during the event, one up close and personal but I've yet to decide how/why he ends up in fights with them.

There's a non-zero chance that she'll try to collect all her people and bring them to Lakeside so she can keep an eye on everybody.

Polar Sun/Midsummer Solstice: Very funny that this is happening right as she's trying to stop getting into so many fights... I'm not totally sure what she'll end up doing, but I'd like to plot out one or two threads with her close/current CR, so here are some options for brainstorming (feel free to hit me with others!):

Option 1: Talk her down
The only people Wynonna feels deeply negative toward here are the Forest Talkers, for shooting Ruby. Even though she can't get to them, it's possible the rage would make her try, and she'd need to be stopped. This could result in either a verbal or physical altercation.

Option 2: She talks you down
Maybe you want your character to be the one getting riled up and reckless, or they get in a fight and you need someone to break it up.

Option 3: She saves you/you save her
Or maybe one of you is at the business end of another Interloper's fury. Will you take the shot to save her life? Or will she have to kill a human to save yours?

Sansa's making herself scarce for most of the event, mostly because she's not confrontational unless absolutely pushed to the brink. On the other hand, Lady will be displaying aggressive behavior in response to Sansa's increasing agitation, and may attack people if they come too close to either her or Sansa. If you've ever wanted to get bitten by or wrestle with a direwolf, this would be the best time. Just, you know, careful not to lose a hand. 😭

She'll be more active after Enola's appearance, particularly with the cleanup, mending, and healing that needs to be done in the Darkwalker's aftermath. She'll be more than happy to offer any kind of comfort she can, where she can give it.

I'll be playing into him reacting to other people becoming violent — which is another Fear that's been lying in wait, since he witnessed a breakdown of order / a mutiny against the ship's captain / was the victim of Violence Against Lieutenants...

— Which means that I can offer attempts to stop people's aggressions / being the recipient of them / trying to protect members of the community from aggressors. This could be for existing cr or new!

— A huge moment for him was also when he had an opportunity to stop violence from getting worse and didn't, due to his inability to shoot a man. So I think it could be some juicy potential if this time he's faced with a similar situation and ends up actually doing the thing this time. It would inevitably fuck him up pretty hard afterwards, given it would be his first time using his gun on a human being. More crises for Nedward Little... (note: I need to check with Cheryl, but possibly will be having Kate Marsh as the person he protects by killing someone. But I'd be down for someone else witnessing this / playing out some immediate consequences with that!)

— As mentioned, I'm extremely interested in Aftermath Stuff, so there's potential for things with that later on, too. This will not be something that Ned can forgive himself for, no matter the necessity of it, so there won't really be a "resolution" for him, but I'd love fun awful chats about "doing what's necessary" / etc.

polar sun — Kostya is the unwilling host for a parasitic entity that essentially has to munch on the juices / blood in brains. He's been keeping it satisfied with animals, but its preference is humans, and so that fear about what happens if animals aren't enough / we run out is about to be realised in real time. Uh oh sisters! Some specific options of interest:

— It could be a good time for him to approach sine of his cr in desperation and reveal a bit more about his situation / his fears that he will become an exceptionally dangerous presence around Milton. A few people have encountered his alien pal or know he "has a medical condition", but he hasn't revealed to many that it needs to eat people or the deep-rooted fears that he'll develop his own desire to eat people as a result of hosting this thing for so long, so that could be really interesting to build on.

— Something I would also love is for Kostya to lose his cool! I don't know yet if I'll be having him get too hostile over time, but the buildup of fear, paranoia, and stress paired with the overarching effects from the Darkwalker mean that I can absolutely see him starting to have the breakdown he's been due for, lmao. I don't know how wild this would get and so would be down to plot how it might play out against your person, but definitely here for him to show a less favourable side of himself up underneath the charming friendly guy he exudes so well on the surface. So if anyone might want to get heated right back at him, that could be interesting!

— There's also the potential for Mr. Alien to actually attack someone after getting hungrier and hungrier. Ofc it would be stopped before it could actually do any brain-munching, but it could be fun to play around with, if someone's interested. I do have plans for it to snack on an NPC at some point, but I think I'll probably hold off on that happening for a little while, and look to future opportunities to have fun with that.

— Daisy talked with Heartman about the Talismans early on, so she's definitely got one. And since she has Alien Genes, she'll have used her own blood for the one she's carrying to see what effect it might have. (Maybe this event will get her to reveal said genes on a wider scale.) No Aurora Feat yet, though, so she'll have resistance but not full protection.

— She'll be the one trying to talk people down and mitigate disasters where she can. She can fight really well and absolutely would go up against someone to stop them from doing home, and I'm open to her getting banged up without permanent damage.

Being influenced like this is going to Freak Her Out on a very deep level because of past trauma being mind-controlled by an evil Inhuman whose influence convinced her to murder people and fight against her friends. (See this and this for reference to the aftermath of that trauma.) And while I'm open to her having a moment of getting swept away in the violence and needing to be pulled back, it needs to be with someone she can be vulnerable with because it'll be a bad time for her.

— She'll be trying to help the injured as much as she can, offering her assistance to the poor overworked Doctors in town because she's got training in field triage and isn't squeamish.

— La'an is a newer arrival, so she received a talisman recently. While she's not one to usually believe in such things, she's seen a lot of weird shit, and after a few weeks in Milton, she'll figure might as well test it out for Science and all that. But she'll have a Monster Blood one, with no positive or negative effects.

— She has a lot of self-control and won't be set off by anything personal people would say to her (because there are only 2 people here who know about her ancestry), but she's a Security Chief surrounded by idiots who refuse to take proper precautions for the safety of all. Cue Angry Cat La'an.

I'd love to have her get violent with someone and be talked down or restrained. Which could easily be handwaved for the act itself (because boy am I terrible at writing that sort of thing) and focus on all the trauma and unease that would come after.

He's going to try to do what he can to avoid getting sucked down into his moods, because dang, he doesn't even have the whiskey to fall back on. He's going to work really hard to push through as because he can for the sake of everyone else, but that means when he's in his cabin or hanging out with folks he'll be more likely to engage in stupid fights.
- There will be some violence between him and Hickey. We're working on what that's going to look like and the aftermath, but it's gonna be rooooooough

- Crozier's gonna mistake Enola for Silna for a hot minute there

• Monthly Activities
- He has three main goals for this month: post-bloodbath he's going to attempt bring together the folks who have the same Aurora feat to discuss their newfound abilities. Like a support group! For magical weirdos! He's also going to connect with the people doing fortifications to see about coming together when there's an outside threat. He still wants a messaging system set up between the two areas that rely on the runners. Not sure how successful any of this will be, but Crozier's going to at least propose something.
- His third goal is more in the line of old school polar galas during the middle of the polar night. He's going to figure out something that isn't complete misery for folks.

A Sign of Things to Come: Chloe will be kind of annoyed that the Darkwalker is doing more theatrics but just as well that it did whatever it was doing over in Lakeside. Who wants to be over there anyway?

Polar Sun: She's much more concerned about the food shortage: when game first starts disappearing, her snare run will drain enough of her Free Runner energy that she will be starving, and all of the seeds she has are useless with no sun to grow them by. She'll be doing escalating little thefts: stealing from Lalo, sneaking into the communist grouse farm or the rabbit enclosure at Tim's at night (as much as there is a night anymore), selling her blood to Lestat, and culminating in attempting to steal food from the Community Hall basement, which will result in a confrontation with Kate that will send her running to ground because she knows Kate's got a fan club.

She doesn't have a talisman, so she's going into Midsummer with full effects. I don't think she'll kill any NPCs but her paranoia will be seriously escalating so she might get into a few fistfights.

Reprieve: She'll be in Milton so she'll see Enola, but I don't think she'd recognize her aside from being the voice in the static on aurora nights when she arrived.

I don't know how much she'll help with cleanup, but she'll want to check on all her friends (and anyone she decked, sorry Kate). Also once the sun is up she's definitely going to want to start on her garden project. They are not ever starving like that again.

A Sign of Things to Come: Randvi still isn't well enough to travel to Lakeside so she won't see the body but she will be deeply upset about the Darkwalker striking again, especially now that they know it's no safer over there than it is in Milton. She will be offering Heartman's talismans to anyone who talks about it with her so if you want your character to get one you can say it was at her suggestion. She was collecting animal blood and has used her own blood in some so you can either get the super murder or the most chill edition.

Polar Sun: Randvi has a talisman with her own blood so unlike all you barbarians aside from the expected stress of the event she's normal through June. She can't exactly physically break up fights in her current condition so this is going to be a lot like the Dag vs Eivor duel in ACV where she's just lurking in the background begging them to stop the whole time probably. She'll offer her fire powers to whoever might need them and try to help the hall monitors stretch the communal meals at the community hall. Once Midsummer hits and things really start to go down,she'll let her friends (and others if it's clearly urgent) hide in her giant house to get away from the nonsense going down out there if they need to.

Reprieve: I don't think she'll see Enola because she's going to be indoors most of the time, but she'll notice the effects. She'll do her best to help with the cleanup and comfort people who suffered ill effects.

Reaching out, making sure they’re all right, making sure they’re SAFE. And then figuring out who the Darkwalker took once the fear part of the whole thing passes. (Making sure the people she checked in with beforehand are still here.)

POLAR SUN: Zoey is going to be getting a little sharp and snappish, but she’s going to be trying to keep a sharp rein on everything. Venting her frustrations on the training dummies she set up for Lightbringer fire practice. She is also going to want to hunt the fucking Darkwalker down. And punch it in its FACE. Operating on spite and fury because fuck everything it's about. (Her response to it talking to her? FUCKING BRING IT, ASSHOLE. YOU CAN FUCKING TRY.) Absolutely here for her ending up on the other end of someone’s event shenanigans; she would try and put herself in the way of it, if it meant she kept someone else out of harm’s way. Especially if it’s one of the folks she’s checking on, previously.

Assuming she has a talisman, it’d probably be an Interloper blood talisman. (Whether or not she'd be wearing it if she has it is currently up in the air.) She will be pushing herself HARD to use her Lightbringer ability to keep people warm and safe. Like, brink of collapse and breakdown hard. Also possibly dealing with the occasional accidental fire when her emotions get the better of her.

Last event, Peter was the one that needed help so this event, I'd like him to do the helping here. Totally down with him getting into tiffs and arguments and even physical fights with people to try and ease them down. He's got a lot of grief and anger inside of him that will be stirred up that he'll be trying to control so if anyone wants to have at it, he will give as good as he gets.

He's definitely not going to kill anyone at this point in time but he'll get physical if it stops someone else from going over the deep end. Let him help you!!

I think I do want Peter to meet Enola since he hasn't met a lot of people outside those that have been brought here and I think it'll be good for him and also confuse the hell out of him. After that, he'll be around to help rebuild and clean up and tell terrible jokes to cheer people up.

Polar sun: Lalo will have a talisman with interloper blood inside he got from Randvi after saving her life, so he won't be very impacted if at all by the Darkwalker. It's cool, he's feral enough anyway. As far as he's concerned, this is basically a real-life zombie movie, and I'm down to having him fight any posessed people! He also keeps stores of food in his basement at Milton, which he'd be happy to share to bolster his good-guy image or get stolen.

Reprieve: Lalo will be coming down with pneumonia during the end of the month, as his various injuries and refusal to rest for long will finally catch up with him. Uh oh. Is there a doctor around? He'll be at his home in Milton, but if he does see Enola, he'll probably just think he's having a sickness-induced hallucination. He'll definitely need some help regardless.

A SIGN OF THINGS TO COME: Another attack by the Darkwalker won't phase Lestat, and the subsequent persistent night will initially seem like a blessing. He'll be enjoying being out at all hours unhindered, apparently unbothered by the ambient dread.

POLAR SUN: However, as the night stretches on and the food situation worsens, Lestat will be especially vulnerable to mood swings and irritability. He needs fresh, living blood to feed on, and with it in short supply he'll be snapping at minor inconveniences and letting his frustration with being trapped in Milton show. During the Solstice, he'll finally give in to temptation and eat an NPC, then attempt to dispose of the body by disguising it as a Forest Talker sacrifice in the woods. I'll be keeping the aftermath of the murder small, involving likely no more than one or two other characters dependent on interest - or he might just manage to get away with it clean.

REPRIEVE: Up until now, Lestat hasn't been particularly invested in Enola. After the vision of her bloody and merciful, that will change. He'll also have a sunburn from having to scuttle for his life after he wakes up in the middle of a clear, sunny day, so he'll be dealing with the aftermath of that for a while.

Good news! Ebola’s appearance will calm her down. Bad news: when the sun appears Jessica will be outside and she will burn. Oops! Fortunately for her a vampire’s young age means that she will burn very slowly compared to a millennia old vampire that will burn in a flash. But it will be painful, she will need a lot of blood to consume heal and recover, and she definitely won’t be doing her Lakeside/Milton delivery services in the foreseeable future.

Senku will be in Milton during the Nightwalker attack! However, regardless of that sense of fear, he'll be heading out to Lakeside to check out the body as soon as he hears about it and also ask around if anyone saw what the Nightwalker looked like, and if anyone has any idea which direction it went or if they have any ideas for tracking it.

Polar sun

Senku's response to dealing with uncomfortable feelings is to jump headfirst into the practical. He's going to channel all that fear and anxiety into Helpful Projects wherever he can. Early in the month he'll be churning out rushlights to keep the town lit while the sun is down, and as the month wears on and wildlife and thus animal fat supplies dwindle down, he'll be switching to making candles out of bayberry wax.

He is for the most part a reedy little nerd and nobody really has anything to worry about from him, though he might snap at someone who's spiraling to get ahold of themselves and stop acting like an idiot. If anyone would want to take a swing at HIM I'm down, though please no severe or lasting injuries. Alternatively, if anyone's interested in Senku stumbling across a Violent Episode and needing to rig up some kind of science to get someone to safety like a flash grenade or a smoke bomb or smth, hmu!!

Event Ideas:

Barn Fire: I plan on doing a lot with the barn fire at Paradise Farms this month as the bulk of Vasiliy's event threads. He'll be providing medical aid, trying to keep people from going in, then going in himself anyway to rescue not the bunnies but what is left of the livestock feed, any old hay, etc. He has 3 open starters here and I can also write custom starters. I'd particularly love the CR-building opportunity of him working with another pragmatic character who sees the longterm value of the grain and understands why he makes the call he does.

Polar Sun: Having grown up in a very very poor family during the end of the tsar's regime and then having lived through the collapse of the Soviet food supply in the 1930s, Vasiliy's not going to react super-duper strongly to the changes because he and Kostya have sort of already been living as though that is the case. However, he'll be spending more time hunting and trapping.

➣ Grand Theft Grouse: A lot of the ptarmigans will still be inside this month, as they will have laid eggs in spring - but because breeding seasons and migratory patterns are like normal here (per a Q on discord) but temperatures are still winter temperatures, he and Kostya would have had to move them inside, into a very makeshift indoors enclosure, so that the eggs don't freeze and the chicks don't die of exposure. That said, there are still some males in the coop outside. If any interlopers want to try to swipe one, they're unlikely to be successful because someone is almost always home and the dog, who does recognize the property as 'his' new territory, is very wary of strangers and will bark if anyone comes onto the property be they friend or foe, but they ARE welcome to try to!

Even at a better weight with a few months of consistent feeding, Mukhtar is lean and not really heavyset in the way that a lot of show line sheps are (in part because he's very much in the category of 'pet quality'), but he's still pretty tall and a big boy in general, so if a character is uneasy about dogs and his presence might make it less ic to risk it that's good to know! It's fine by me to handwave characters coming onto the edge of the property in search of somewhere to raid and getting barked at and moving onto somewhere else. He's also liable to snarl and become increasingly aggressive if someone tries to approach him (right now he doesn't even let Vasiliy or Kostya come close to him) and if someone turns their back to him and runs, he's liable to chase them to the edge of the property. Ping me if you want to talk about your character getting a dogbite this event - there are a few ways it could happen, although he won't outright deliberately defend the coop or the house because he's not really trained like that.

I'm also down to play out a confrontation or two in which the person doesn't bail when they see the dog and gets caught trying to go through with it!

Farm/Homestead Updates: In addition to the first seasonal crop of ptarmigan chicks, as of May, Vasiliy and Kostya have a very special new housemate - an abandoned caribou calf Vasiliy brings home after finding her left behind by her mother on one of his trips out to set ptarmigan traps. It's up in the air whether she was abandoned because of odd Milton animal behavior or because of regular caribou behavior—while people often think does have abandoned fawns that are just resting, caribou very much will actually abandon calves that are born too early and can't keep up with them, and once a calf gets separated, no other caribou will take it in. They're keeping her fed on infant formula in the first week (and obviously she doesn't do GREAT on that) followed by livestock milk replacer scavenged from some of the old homesteads, with the intention of raising her for eventual milk production/draught animal use. Looking to keep engagement with this to only a couple of threads with characters who have resources to help just so things don't get redundant.
