SEPTEMBER 2024 EVENT


PROMPT ONE — PAINFUL REMINDERS: An Aurora briefly connects the Interlopers to their homeworlds, and with it are able to receive items from home — but these ones will bring no comfort to them.
PAINFUL REMINDERS — CONTENT WARNINGS: potentially upsetting themes; themes of loneliness/isolation.

PROMPT TWO — THE ENEMY WITHIN: Strange and familiar occurrences begin in Milton and Lakeside, growing in frequency and danger for the Interlopers. Who can truly be trusted among their numbers?

PAINFUL REMINDERS


WHEN: 5th - 9th of September.
WHERE: Everywhere.

For many, the sight of the Aurora is now one they have become used to. There have been plenty of them over the year that has passed since the Interlopers first came to the Northern Territories. Often, they have been a sign of great danger, with plenty of unsettling and unnatural things happening when the skies light up. Other times they have been the herald of aid — a link between Interlopers and Enola, gifting them with abilities to help them survive in this world. There is no real knowing what kind of force the Aurora is, truly. And there is a tension that holds amongst the Interlopers as the day turns to night and there is the soft sound that grows louder.

The ethereal, high-pitched chorus of sounds, is difficult to place. Perhaps it sounds like voices, or discordant strings. And with it, the low-drone of electrical buzz — punctuated with the echoing pops and sharp cracks. The sky is alive with sound, and with it comes the swirling streaking of colour against the inky black of night, growing brighter and brighter as time goes on — greens, blues, pinks and purples shifting and dancing across the night. And much like every Aurora before this one, the electricals of the world come to life too. Homes, streetlamps, cars long-stranded in the snow. Man’s world comes alive, buzzing and flickering precariously.

But there are no ghosts like there once was a year ago. No terrible weather, no poisonous fog. If one could call it a ‘normal’ Aurora, that’s what it appears to be. But there is something else in amongst all the light and noise. Snatches of things: whispers of conversations, names called, laughter and tears.

You realise you recognise these voices. They are the voices of home. Perhaps you hear your mother, your siblings or friends. Whoever they are, you can hear them. And although they might not be able to hear you — for one brief night, the Aurora has connected you, bridged the gap between your world and this one. You may sit for a while, simply listening to the voices, relishing in hearing those from back home. If others join you, you will find yourself compelled to speak of them: to share in stories about those from back home — the connections you share with them.

It’s strange, though. These voices do not fill you with comfort or joy. Instead you are left with feelings of sadness, anger, and isolation. The Aurora has connected Interlopers, but now you feel so cut off from home, cut off from friends and loved ones — reminded of everything left behind. Everything you long for. Everything you have lost.

Something strange skips through the sky, a warping of the sound. It’s unsettling. Something feels... wrong, somehow.

It’s not just the voices that will remind you of this. Something else comes through the Aurora after that night. A small token will be brought through. Whatever the item may be, when you go to sleep and next wake, you will find said item. It may be placed on your bedside, on your desk or dining room table.

The item, you will find, will bring you a reminder of pain. Of sadness. Of horror. Perhaps it’s something you haven’t thought of in some time. Maybe it is something that has lingered in the back of your mind. Perhaps it is a part of you, waiting to be uncovered. A sign of something to come. A painful reminder of your past, or an ominous omen of your future.


THE ENEMY WITHIN


WHEN: The month of September.
WHERE: Everywhere.

It starts with strange happenings at night, things left to be found by the next morning. Those within Lakeside many find themselves unsurprised by it, given their location, but the scenes found in Milton are a foreboding sight.

Mutilated bodies of animals: rabbits, ptarmigans, even deer — mangled and strewn about the streets, blood upon the snow. Some may awaken in the middle of the night to the sounds of their windows breaking, with houses on the Outskirts being targeted more than those in the middle of town. There is… a kind of unrest in the world.

It escalates.

Some may leave their home for the day and return in the evening to find the place trashed: items broken, precious foodstuffs thrown about the place and destroyed. Those within the Outskirts are once again particularly vulnerable, as are those within Lakeside. Fires are started in some of the abandoned buildings of Milton. Something, someone is targeting the Interlopers.

It is hard to pin-point who exactly, and it only puts the Interlopers on high alert. Nothing like this has never happened before. This is new, especially in Milton.

As the month progresses, the acts become more serious. Fires may be started in the middle of the night in Interlopers’ homes while they sleep. Some are attacked in the night, others are taken from their beds. Some killed within their very homes. Of the Interlopers that go missing, their mutilated remains may be found days later out in the wilds.

In Milton, soon enough, someone is bold enough to come out from the darkness, out from the gloom of the night. Interlopers may be attacked in broad daylight — by those they may recognise as newer Interlopers of the community, who appeared from the wilds: lost and shivering, with nowhere else to go. Some of them have been within Milton for a few months now.

Those in Lakeside will face something similar: Forest Talkers are making a move, rogue and isolated incidents — done with sabotaging attempts at hunting and taking a more direct approach.

They have no qualms about being captured or killed, only determined to get rid of as many of the Interlopers as they can. They whisper, they scream: “You don’t belong here. You should never have come here. It wants you gone, it wants us all gone. The end is here, it’s too late for any of us. Nature must run its course. The yawning grave has been opened.”

The attack is on two fronts: the first of Forest Talkers in Lakeside amplifying their actions. The second in Milton, enemies within the ranks of the Interlopers, Forest Talkers hiding as Interlopers.

Within Milton, newer Interlopers will likely be met with suspicion as being some of the Forest Fighters as a result of these individual acts of violence. As the numbers of Milton have been infiltrated, and it’s easy to have mistrust amongst those newer to the community. In-fighting is likely, and the entire town is stuck in some terrible, tense state — unsure of who to trust within their own numbers. In the days and weeks that follow, it remains like this. Acts of violence and vandalism — chaos and disorder.


BAD BLOOD


WHEN: The night of 27th - 28th September.
WHERE: Milton.

Towards the end of the month, the moon is full. They call it the Harvest Moon, but colour seeps into it — oranges and reds: a blood moon, partially eclipsed. The night is calm and cloudless, but there’s an uneasy feeling in the night.

The earth groans, the rumble of another quake that’s plagued the Northern Territories since the beginning of August. It is the only warning Interlopers will get — if they may realise it as a warning. To some, when they look back, it’s a omen, a starting pistol.

They do not come through the Mines. Thanks to the efforts of Interlopers to guard the entrances of the Milton Mines, they know better. They come to town from the south, not the north.
The quakes of August and September have opened a new way from Lakeside to Milton. They are led by their Leader: a man dressed in white, a large deer skull upon his head. And while their numbers are small in comparison, they come armed and with the determination to get rid of the Interlopers once and for all. As they come into town, they launch their attack.

More fires will be set, Interlopers will be attacked with abandon. Shot at, stabbed, beaten. It is a mass execution. They will not stop until the Interlopers, or them, are dead.

Well, the majority of them. There are just under a dozen teenagers and younger people amongst their ranks who have shown hesitance toward violence in the past. Perhaps they can be reasoned with. Perhaps there may be a way to convince them to abandon their cause. There is fear in their eyes. Some of them do not want to die. They fear the yawning grave.

What will do you then, Interloper? Are you willing to fight for your life? Are you willing to take another’s to save your own, or a friends? Will you hide, or run? What choice will you make? The Forest Talkers have long since made their own choice. Now you must make yours.

It is another night of chaos on a town already scarred by the events of June. Interlopers will note two familiar faces in the fray: at some point during the night both Methuselah and Young Bill will arrive. While Methuselah will concentrate on aiding the wounded and trying to shelter Interlopers the best he can, Young Bill will help protect Interlopers from the Forest Talkers with his rifle in hand. But fortunately, it is just for one single night. Ammunition runs out, sides are switched, and people are killed. As dawn approaches, Forest Talker numbers dwindle. Either killed, incapacitated or defected. In the early morning light, bodies lie in the snow both Interloper and Forest Talker alike.

Those trying to hunt down the leader will see him slipping inside an empty cabin, heavily wounded. Following after him, they will find him settling himself down to kneel on the floor. The white of his tactical gear stained red with blood as it blooms from his wounds. Slowly, he removes the deer skull from his head to reveal a clean-shaven man in his late twenties with a shock of white-blond hair. His eyes are blue, calm.

He sets the skull down, panting and sweating. He is dying. He is not afraid.

“My name is Mallory, not that it matters now. We are dead, you and I.” he says softly. “We exist in a dying world.”

He is in much pain from his wounds. He moves again to sit cross-legged on the floor. A hand touches the bloodied fabric of his front and he laughs humourlessly.

“You don’t understand, do you? The end must come. That is the order of things. The end must come so the world can be reborn. That is how it’s always worked. When the world is swallowed, it will grow again from the earth.”

It is a story. The story of the Darkwalker. Some believe it to be the end of the world, but Young Bill had once said there is another telling of the tale. A creation myth. The Darkwalker swallows the world and returns to its slumber within the earth. Within it, everything its swallowed grows again and the world returns.

“We fought against man’s actions to ruin this place, not knowing our true purpose. The Devourer has shown me the truth, and I sought to put that into action.” His head tilts to one side. “The yawning grave is opened. Does new life not grow from the decay? It is a cycle. The grave and the cradle.”

He finds it difficult to breathe, but he presses on.

“You fight to live. You come here and you do not see what you are. You are only delaying the inevitable, perverting the true course. Prolonging the suffering. You are the Interlopers, you are not part of nature’s design. The Darkwalker does not want you here. And where it fails, we have tried to succeed.”

There’s another laugh, something catching in his throat. He coughs, blood bubbling from his lips.

“And failed. For now. The First Cursed cannot hold it forever. She, too, delays the inevitable." Even as he is dying, he still have the energy to sneer. He speaks of Enola. "A woman who plays at being a god. What right does she have? All must go into the Long Dark. ... As will I. Return me to the grave.”

Mallory’s head dips, his body sagging. He inhales once more and then stops.

PAINFUL REMINDERS



1. Players must sign up for items. See the toplevel below.

2. Items will face the same warps/nerfs as everything else that is brought into the game.

3. Items can be no bigger than something your character can reasonably carry.

4. While items do not have to belong to your character, there has to be a good reason why they’d receive such an item — ie. something related to your character.


THE ENEMY WITHIN


1. The Forest Talkers within Milton are a number of NPCs that have been pre-selected from NPCs who arrived in April and August. Not all of them will show their true intentions as the month goes on but will continue to stay hidden.

2. Two NPCs killed in the June Event were also Forest Talkers. … Good… job?

3. The following NPC Interlopers will out themselves as Forest Talkers at this stage: Devon Busswood; Rita Yee; Realm Lovejoy.


BAD BLOOD


1. Following the events of this prompt, Interlopers now have an additional way into Lakeside. It’s still rather dangerous: it’s through a partially collapsed cave system that ends into abandoned bunker on the Lakeside side. The game map will be marked accordingly in due course.

2. Some Interlopers may recognise a familiar face in the Forest Talker ranks: the man who was kidnapped by Interlopers previously in July has returned. Looks like he made good on his promise. He's come back to cause problems.

3. The following NPC Interlopers will out themselves as Forest Talkers during the attack: Jackie Blackmore; Ross Huguet; Jennifer Kitchen; Daniel Kresco.

4. As a reminder of numbers: around fifty Forest Talkers will show up for the attack.

Wanted CR: All the other youths. Supportive adults he can eventually trust. Annoying people to clash with. Anyone he can protect.
Unwanted CR: Open for age-appropriate flirting but nothing actually serious.

Event Ideas:

  • General. Charles is brand new, and even without the event, being here is a lot to deal with. He's still going to be extremely antsy to leave, and not too keen on getting involved with this place's conflicts at first. In addition, he's just gotten a body with working senses for the first time in awhile and will be handling massive sensory overload, so he'll be less functional than normal as he relearns managing basic needs and the feeling of things touching his skin again.
  • Painful Reminders. Getting tossed here in the middle of trying to save his best friend was bad enough, but this part of the event will be doing its best to make Charles feel even worse about it. I'm planning for his token from home to be a broken baby doll head, part of the horrific monster that he was running from when he got pulled here, and which he can no longer protect said best friend from. He'll also be hearing the voices of his friends to further his overall guilt about being stuck here. If you want to either be disturbed by a busted baby doll head or talk about feeling useless, he's your guy.
  • Enemy Within. As mentioned, Charles will have little interest in doing anything but leaving at first. What he does have interest in, however, is keeping people safe. As soon as the attacks ramp up and start threatening lives, he'll be trying his best to play hero. Find this scruffy lad saving people from fires or using his good old-fashioned detective skills to investigate the scenes. Since he's new and a bit of a hot-headed punk, also feel free to heavily suspect him. He has, after all, mentioned his experience with blowing things up in the community hall.
  • Bad Blood. Charles is pretty experienced at fighting, but there are two important things to note - most of his fighting has been done while being unable to be killed, and also he has largely fought with a magically strengthened weapon. He will definitely be attempting to fight, especially trying to save anyone he sees that needs help, but he'll be caught off guard by the challenges he now faces. He'll also probably wind up significantly injured and in need of assistance, to (unsuccessfully) teach him he can't just throw himself at threats anymore.

tbh reiner might just think he's hallucinating again. that won't stop him from sitting around listening to the voices, though! most of his loved ones are either dead or (he believes) subjected to a fate worse than death. very down for him sharing stories of home with others. (potential cws: death, genocide, omnicide)

as for an object, i'm currently undecided! reiner doesn't have many things, nor do the people around him. maybe he'll get his dead best friend's sweater. (maybe it'll also be stained with blood.) gotta give it a think! if you're canon familiar, ideas are welcome ♥

THE ENEMY WITHIN

oh boy, what an excellent time to be a brand new arrival! 😂 reiner is accustomed to watching what he says/does due to state surveillance, and he's also accustomed to discrimination. that said, he's also been the "traitor" behind enemy lines. so this could be fun!

i have three general ideas for this that can be mixed and mashed
  • look after people who have been victimized, decide to Take Care of Them. potential fast-track for positive cr
  • assume everyone has bad intentions. (excluding, ironically enough, the 2 people from back home who have actively tried to kill him.) trust no one. probably tense cr at first, but idk maybe they could be targeted while together and bond over that?
  • start thinking that maybe he's responsible for some of this. what if he's just forgetting things again? lots of self-doubt, potential disconnect from reality
BAD BLOOD

reiner has no qualms about killing people. he responds to violence with violence, and he is very capable in a fight. team up with him! get rescued! rescue him! the possibilities are all there. he's also v self-sacrificial and a bit (very) reckless w/ his own safety bc he's used to healing from nearly any injury. so patching him up is also on the cards

oocly i don't enjoy writing drawn-out fight scenes. so glossing over the fighting itself and focusing on ~emotions~/cr-building would be ideal!

Aurora Feat: Cold Fusion; now that she understands it a little better (but not completely) she is taken advantage of the cold nights to explore the wilderness. She has a map she took from the Lookout that now has notes on it (which look completely illegible because bug language is more like pictures/hieroglyphics than letters.)

Wanted CR: All the CR! She's still learning to trust so she'd love to meet other humans who would be willing to talk to her. Feel free to notice her or think she's some weird cryptid! Definitely looking to expand on her current CR and see where it takes her. She is, surprisingly, enjoying talking to people.
Unwanted CR: N/A

Event Ideas:
Painful reminders: She, hopefully, will get the pure nail of the Knight, which will be a helpful reminder of the sacrifice that they made in the end. There are multiple endings to Hollow Knight (and Team Cherry has not confirmed if any are canon) and the ending where she is from, the Knight has perished in their fight after succeeding in stopping the Radiance. She will sit and share her home with those who decide to sit with her. She'll hate being compelled to speak but that's fine. This is fine.

The Enemy Within: Hornet will fight to defend, and has no qualms with killing if necessary. Her needle is sharp and ready for action.

Bad Blood: She would like to talk to the Forest Talkers leader, or at least be there when he dies to hear what he has to say. Again, she is not afraid of a fight and is willing to kill if it becomes necessary. I am willing to team up to kill one of the NPC fake interlopers should someone like to do so. She may also assist with getting people to safety but her priority will be to fight back.

Aurora Feat: lightbringer! He's very very slowly realizing that he can sometimes tell when he's about to have an emotion that will make the fires start. Sometimes he can force himself to feel those emotions that will make the fires start. Mostly he has a hard time exerting conscious or fine control over it, but during fights his emotional state is going to give him perfect control. It's much easier to kill someone than to light the fireplace.

Wanted CR: I'm playing it by ear atm. After that town meeting where everyone got voted not guilty and he got very visibly angry and left he hasn't really been back to town, and he's got no reason to go there now either unless Francis Crozier goes, so anyone he talks to would have to be in or near the outskirts in Milton.
Unwanted CR: No romance, I'm good with everything else!

Event Ideas:
Raju's another one of those characters who's going to be going full murder mode, both throughout the month and at the end of it. He's boarding over the cabin windows, spending as much time as he can bodyguarding Francis Crozier, and hanging out at home. Anyone who seems like they're about to mess with the cabin is getting shot with an arrow or set on fire. He's probably going to burn the bodies afterward, and possibly wheelbarrow them over to the mine entrance to warn off forest talkers (once it becomes clear that's who they're dealing with).

Let me know if you want your character to:
- Need help somewhere near Milton Outskirts. He won't go out of his way to find people in distress, but he will murder for anyone he notices being attacked.
- Come across him scavenger hunting for different places to put the bodies. (The quakes have opened up a lot of holes...)
- something to do with the younger, more doubtful members of the forest talkers during that last battle? Raju is not going to be treating them any differently than the others, but if someone else is and that attempt seems like it might work, he'll be inclined to help

Pacing: Medium tagger generally, sometimes fast & can boomerang a bit if respective schedules align! I'll be traveling for work from Sept 9-12 so right when the event drops, but I'll definitely be in the thick of things, just a bit slower at that time.

Canon: Doctor Who
Aurora Feat: Interloper's Sacrifice | He's only used it a few times so far but even though he's not super loving the way it just happened and he didn't ask for it, he's grateful to be able to actually heal people. Sure will come in handy now.

Event Ideas:
general } Since exploring the lookout tower and finding Sam's journal, the Doctor's been hyperfocused on sussing out every detail he can, particularly as the earthquakes have escalated recently. He'd built some rudimentary seismographs to try and gather some data on the magnitude of the quakes, general vicinity of them, etc. So for much of the month, he'll be continuing to focus on every aspect of this world that he can study, explore. He stays busy as much as he can and he'll always find something to do, particularly with trying to aid in improving quality of life and means of protection for everyone here.

painful reminders } He'll be hearing a multitude of voices from his past so there's plenty of opportunity for pain, but it takes some doing to get him to a place where he'll be emotionally open and vulnerable and share that out loud. He lets some melancholy show, but actually talking about it is a lesson in patience few have cracked unless you're Thomas Jopson. So that being said, I would love to do something with this, but far prefer the Doctor being the one to listen to the stories of others. In the course of that, he may open up a bit more depending on where the CR goes.

enemy within } General things he'll be up to:
- Fortifying, creating, strengthening means of defense as much as he can, using their environment to do so
- Protecting anyone under attack; which would involve (stupidly/stubbornly) putting himself between someone and an attacker, creating diversions, using non-lethal tools to incapacitate/stun an attacker, setting traps, causing confusion to draw attackers away from hurting others. He might develop things like smoke shields using things in the environment like dried moss/herbs.
- He'll be spending time in the scrap yard building things and once it's clear things are escalating, he'd probably work on building things like small shields out of scrap metal. Essentially, any way that he can keep people safe while doing everything in his power to avoid bloodshed. Unfortunately...

bad blood } Shit hits the fan and there's no clever trickery drawing any attackers away now. In the midst of the worst of it, he would be right there trying to protect people and disarm attackers the best he can. He does have some ruthlessness in him that doesn't come out often but this situation would certainly be a flashpoint. He'll try to appeal to younger Forest Talkers and help them hopefully see reason. He'll for sure be on hand in the aftermath to heal people who have been injured so let me know if you want to do anything there with Interloper's Sacrifice!

He's been settled long enough now as well that I'm vaguely entertaining the thought of setting him up with someone, but I have no specific plans and am willing to just let things unfold organically.
Unwanted CR: He already comes pre-packaged with a mortal enemy, but otherwise no preferences or dislikes.

Event Ideas: Your event plotting here!

  • Painful Reminders: Some of Goodsir's voices will be his family, but there will also be a few notable voices that should cause a great deal of agita. Mostly people from the expedition he couldn't save—people like John Morfin or Stephen Stanley, or maybe even the chittering of a monkey. Which ... has just given me a really fucking terrible idea for the item that he will find. Goodsir's been pretty stable for the most part of late; this should throw him sideways pretty hard.
  • The Enemy Within: If anyone that Goodsir cares about gets hurt, it's entirely possible that a year's worth of PTSD may come exploding up in spectacular fashion. He might actually get angry enough to hurt someone. Goodsir has a lot of feelings (none of them good) about situations where dissent and betrayal come to the forefront and he's going to be increasingly touchy, perhaps even paranoid, as matters progress.
  • Bad Blood: When things go 'splody, Goodsir's reactions will depend on whatever happened during the Enemy Within phase. But whatever happens, he's very likely to put his own safety on the line to protect his people, and he may also be sympathetic to any of the Forest Talkers who decide they don't want to murder every interloper they see.

Aurora Feat: Lightbringer; she’s been working on fine control and finesse since the moment she realised she had a new power, and has been experimenting on what she can do with it. (She’s probably set up, or WILL set up, some targets for practice.) And now Moon Touched; she’s been practicing her wolfy nature when she can.

Wanted CR: FRIENDS! Definitely friends. Found family (or the starts of it, of course XD). Hunting/exploring/patrol buddies. Information gatherers/research partners, because she 1000% has an information wall started in her home (and she’s been using another wall for a map). Sparring buddies. Absolutely not opposed to lovers/romance (let her SMOOCH PEOPLE) but that’s probably going to be a slower burn sort of thing that she’s not going to be consciously seeking out or thinking about at all, at least at first. But if it fits I ship if there’s chemistry and things go that way I’m so here for it. Maybe roommates in the future? She’s going to have to know someone a little first though. The still building is impending (might be backdated to pre-event? THINGS KEEP HAPPENING SLOW YOUR ROLL MILTON XD) Wolf friend times, both for shifting shenanigans and for puppy times.

Event Ideas:
PAINFUL REMINDERS: Honestly I have NO IDEA what Zoey should get for this. I’m leaning towards either a piece of jewellery from her deceased mom (whose death she foresaw and could do nothing to stop), or something from her missing dad. Or hell. Maybe it could be BOTH. Maybe her dad wears his wedding band on a necklace along with his wife’s wedding band and engagement ring.

If I do go that route she’s going to be devastated. Because of the aforementioned vision of her mom’s death, and her dad going missing and her being lost in the multiverse and unable to go find him. (Her search for him was what kind of kicked off her CRAU journey.)

She's also going to be hearing all sorts of voices. Mostly of people she's lost in her journeying about the multiverse. And her parents.

THE ENEMY WITHIN: Zoey is going to be lucky enough that her place doesn’t end up ransacked/burned/etc, but she’s going to be keeping an eye out once she finds out that that’s a thing that’s happening. Making note of which places have been hit, trying to figure out if there’s any sort of rhyme or reason behind it. A pattern.

Time to be super suspicious and wary.

BAD BLOOD: FIGHT TIME. Zoey might not have her gift of sight, but she still knows a warning when she feels/sees one. Especially after a year here. Between the moon and the earthquake… She’s going to be on edge. Trying to keep an eye on new arrivals, probably. And old hat arrivals. Her friends. People she’s chatted with a time or two.

She is going to 1000% try to persuade the Forest Talkers that are persuadable. But she’s also probably going to end up having to kill a couple Forest Talkers that AREN’T, in self defense. Or in defense of someone else, because she will also 1000% risk her own life to keep others safe. And she’s not going to be doing great after even though it was necessary. She’d rather not if at all possible. (Which it wasn’t possible, this time. She just has to deal with her feelings first.)

Also probably she’s going to get injured to some degree. Because I’m mean. And because it’s been a while.

She’s going to go after the leader as well. Injured or not.

Wanted CR: Right now she's very new, so I'm just looking to play things by ear! Friends, enemies, and everything in between all sound good to me. I'm not opposed to romantic-tinged CR developing, but my favorite flavor of it tends to come in the form of relationships that are hard to define/have blurry lines (and she also comes prepackaged with a hell of a lot of social baggage on multiple levels, so she just straight-up wouldn't work in a "traditional" romantic relationship). I also really love what I'll call """coworker""" CR, where characters who clash personality-wise, dislike each other, or otherwise don't easily get along still agree to work together (be it temporarily or permanently) towards a common goal - and Shaw is also quite good at this!

Event Ideas:
painful reminders: She's going to spend the entire time waffling between "o no I'm suffering from auditory hallucinations" and "none of this is real and I'm inside a computer simulation" (something which her canon experiences have unfortunately predisposed her to suspect quite easily). Fun!

the enemy within + bad blood: Shaw is a recent arrival, and not the most personable one; I am very down for people being wary of her by default and/or reading her weird-ass demeanor as something to be suspicious of. This may or may not be helped by the fact that, while she'll be willing to give a second chance to Forest Talkers who seem like they're waffling in their loyalties (and while she won't won't respond lethally to kids/teens, even kids/teens who attack first), she will have no compunction about hurting, maiming, and straight-up killing adult attackers in defense of herself or others, and will express zero hesitation, remorse, or angst in doing so. She may be in between jobs right now, but stopping (and even killing) Bad Guys to save Good Guys is what she's been doing for the past few years, and this will seem like a pretty clear-cut case of Good vs. Bad to her. I'm equally up for positive and negative reactions in response to this!

Painful Reminders: Chloe will be hearing her friends’ voices this month (Nate and Elena, Sam, Nadine and Charlie are all options here) and she loves talking about them, so I'm down with sharing stories with pretty much anyone. She will be receiving a grenade pin from the aurora to remind her of what happens when she refuses to trust people. This will distress her but she’ll probably only discuss it with close CR.

The Enemy Within: Once the vandalism starts, Chloe will be pretty much camped out at the greenhouse. She's done so much work and her first harvest is almost here, and glass is a non-renewable resource! Once the Forest Talker moles start revealing themselves, Spencer Carson will accuse Jane of being one since she's breaking into houses and acting weird, and Chloe will kill him to protect her, so she's going to need some help probably, both with the body and with feeling weird about it. She'll stick around the greenhouse for the duration of the Bad Blood prompt as well.

Also unfortunately for Randvi, the item that she is receiving is her husband Sigurd’s severed forearm in a box… so she will probably need help with the resulting fire because she's going to be very upset.

The Enemy Within / Bad Blood: I think Randvi will stick close to home for most of this, since she has a household to defend now. At Raju’s suggestion she's been training with a spear, and this might also let her try out Kenway’s hidden blade. Ulfrùn will be at Lalo’s basement party with Zane so she won’t need to worry about her.

Wanted CR: I'd love for Bruce to become a mentor/guardian figure for any younger characters, and Bruce gaining real friends he can trust would be great as well. Negative/complicated CR is also welcome! Get under this guy's skin now that he doesn't have to contain a Rage Monster.
Unwanted CR: Maybe no straight-up enemies at this point, and romance is open but would be a slow burn due to his Baggage.

Painful Reminders: Bruce will hear the voices of his ex-girlfriend Betty and the other Avengers. Maybe, if he listens carefully, he might be able to hear his mother's voice.

His token will be the engagement ring he had bought for Betty with intentions to propose to her, but ultimately lost forever after the experiment went wrong and he turned into the Hulk.

The Enemy Within / Bad Blood: Bruce will serve primarily as a medic during all of this. I'd love for him to tag-team with other medic characters, help out injured characters, or get rescued by someone while he's in the field trying to help someone.
