I have a playlist that I write his tags with here. It's a lot of instrumental 70s-esque lo-fi beats, if that makes sense.

Great for jamming, just energetic to not put you to sleep but not distracting enough to cut off your concentration.

Remember when I made a whole-ass playlist for these idiots?

For anyone else interested, it's mostly 70s dad rock with a smattering of country. Good for driving with the windows down or while just chilling.

A couple of songs that will ALWAYS make me think of Marchonna:

He's got a few songs on her playlist, but the main one is You Make Lovin' Fun, Fleetwood Mac (all of Rumours will make me think of them forever, thanks). To me it totally encapsulates how they kept coming back to each other for something that was fun and sweet and laid-back amidst The Horrors and how grateful she is to have someone around she could just enjoy herself with.

Breakdown by Tom Petty is kind of perfect for right now, considering it's all about loving someone and how whatever they choose, it's cool and that love doesn't go anywhere, even if it means leaving:

'Cause you could leave me if you want to, baby
I don't mind, I can stand it, I can face it
I could live with it every day of my life, it's alright
I don't mind

Boogie Wonderland is cheating since it's on TNG soundtrack and I know you use it for March, but I just wanna point out this verse which is ALL TOO Marchonna:

Midnight creeps so slowly into hearts of men
Who need more than they get
Daylight deals a bad hand to a woman
Who has laid too many bets

And, finally, California Dreamin' for a California boy <3

Tom's playlist is mostly psychedelic rock for obvious reasons!

A special shout out to the poet and the muse, a canonical, in-universe song about him and the events that 'took place' before the first alan wake.

Wynonna Earp | Wynonna Earp

[personal profile] pacificator 2025-03-16 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a frightening number of Wynonna-adjacent playlists. Here is the one I made for Sing, which is under constant construction. Some of the songs are for her, some of them are for CR, some are for the game environment. It's a mix of genres but mostly rock and country-rock.

Have some other songs (first two with fanvids to accompany them! Warnings for Wynonna Earp spoilers through season 1 and a few for season 2):

— If I had to pick only one song to represent Wynonna, it's gotta be Gun in My Hand by Dorothy. Asking was it for redemption? was it for revenge? just fits S1 Wynonna and her core conflicts too perfectly.

Raise Hell by Brandi Carlile is another great one for her that really leans into the outlaw/wild west feel of the series.

— And, of course, the series theme song Tell That Devil by Jill Andrews, along with its acoustic version (IYKYK).

Here's another fighty girl group country music "oh fuck YOU, I'm still going to fight tooth and nail and stubbornly fight for what I want and what I feel is right" song for Wynonna's playlist: "Not Ready to Make Nice" by The Chicks.

Oh HELL yes, love The Chicks and this song is 100% going on the playlist!

I feel like there are so many little Wynonna-vibey songs I've bumped into and I'll have to come back and add in more, BUT one that always stands out really hard to me is Wolf by Meghan Tonjes! It's sooo pretty and just has some good themes there I think for her 🤌

ohhhhhh this is such a vibe! It's so pretty and it's SO Wynonna, gosh. Slamming this straight onto her playlist!

Pretty much any Murder by Death song, but specifically No Oath, No Spell is a good angsty one!

Benton Fraser | Due South

[personal profile] maintiensledroit 2025-03-16 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Fraser has a Sing playlist too!

There are a few songs that always make me think of him:

Ride Forever is a country song written and performed by Fraser's actor, Paul Gross, in the show, and though the lyrics don't necessarily feel like Fraser to me, the overall message and feeling of the song — all about things that change and stay the same and freedom that's grounded in his homeland — definitely does. (Worth watching all the way through the video to see dozens of Mounties ride out of a train.)

— you cannot escape Sarah McLachlen while watching Due South, and the number one Sarah McLachlen song associated with the show is Possession, which is the theme to the toxic, doomed love between Fraser and the criminal Victoria Metcalfe.

Northwest Passage by Stan Rogers could easily be Fraser's personal soundtrack. Not only does it reference the doomed Franklin expedition (which Fraser is canonically fascinated by) but it speaks to his desire to be an explorer and to leave cities and people behind and strike out alone under and open sky.

Cornelius Hickey | The Terror (AMC)

[personal profile] friendsfordinner 2025-03-16 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
so Hickey has two semi-official playlists, b/c the showrunner for The Terror has been doing a thing recently where he's made playlists for the characters (normal Hickey and an AU where Hickey's fucking medicated)

however, my playlist is better because Dave K is a COWARD and hasn't included any Eurovision songs. some highlights from my playlist include:

The Distance - Cake. Stopping and accepting your fate is for LOSERS, even if everybody else has accepted things and stopped the race. Keep going. Don't stop.

Rowboat Mayor - They Might Be Giants. What do you mean it's a bit embarrassing to be the boss of the world's smallest group. Sounds fake. Don't trust you.

Congratulations - Silvia Night. The anthem for delusional egotists everywhere.

The Distance as a Hickey song is such a stroke of genius tbh

I've been on a Decemberists kick lately, so can I offer The Cutting Stone and/or Culling of the Fold for our resident stabbity egomaniac?

the best Decemberists songs are the ones about murder or suicide (or both!), unironically
brushoff: (let's talk about BOOKS.)

Dorian Gray | The Confessions of Dorian Gray

[personal profile] brushoff 2025-03-16 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I've got a Dorian playlist here so time to highlight a few selections that I really like!!

"Eighth Wonder" - Lemon Demon. I am going to need everybody to google Gef the talking mongoose right now. Aside from that, it's a very Dorian coded song. Just so much bragging, so much self-aggrandizement, 'oooooh I'm so spooky and haunted' but like...it's a mongoose. Or a normal-ass dude. Just push him out a window and that'll incapacitate him for a bit.

"Chandelier" - Sia. Hey what if we just ignore all our trauma and repress all the horrors and do cocaine. Sounds great, A+ strategy, no notes.

"Love Song for a Vampire" - Annie Lennox. This is just Dorian and his dead vampire soulmate boyfriend. This is their anthem. They both are that fucking dramatic.

It's a bit 60s-esque and on tom's playlist so i'm cheating a bit, but I feel like the cult of dionysus has a bit of a dorian vibe to it!

→ Ned's official playlist from The Terror showrunner is a pretty incredible thing to have at-hand as a writer (with one track picked out by his actor himself, which I am perfectly normal about: Leaders of the Free World)

→ I've also been picking at creating a playlist of my own over the past couple years, but I'm notoriously bad for actually FINISHING them and I need to edit & fine-tune before properly sharing... one of these days I will finish this thing.... but until then, a song in particular that is like His Song TM for me is Two Dogs Tethered Inside by Emily Wells! The lyrics are in the description — all the Ned dog motif things, his heart, and it always reminds me of the moment when he was surrounded by the remaining men / being challenged by Tozer because I feel that was such a momentous point for him and when he started to like. Really Be Changed by everything but also he's this loyal dog that holds on / comes back... ANYWAY, please lmk if you have any Ned Songs up your sleeves because I am always on the hunt for them to add!!

I too have come across SO many Ned-adjacent songs, so I'll just come back and drop more, but to start off with: A Beginning Song (because everyone's getting a Decemberists song from me ig).

To me this song really speaks to Ned's internal struggles with his own fears and his worries about who (and what) he really is, along with the push and pull of everything he wants and won't let himself have... but the overall feeling of the song is hopeful and determined in a way that reminds me of him, with that touch of relief at the end with the light coming in...

Also offering Light in the Distance by Elles Bailey for some pain.

Me returning to memes a literal MONTH later but ohhh my gosh I really need to listen to more of The Decemberists in general, and this one is SO Ned-coded?? ;~; The lyrics are perfect... the turmoil! the hope! the heart! That touch of light to it all too aaahh. I'm going to have to use this one for Meaningful Log Titles tbqh

This song also LORNA NO...... oh this hurts in all the best ways, I love it.... these lyrics are 🤌🤌🤌

As it happens I recently made a Decemberists primer for a coworker!

And I KNOW, I heard that Elles Bailey song and all I could think of was Ned's final moments.... let me make it up to you with a few Ned/Wynonna songs (is this where I admit I have a playlist for them?): Leaning on You by HAIM, Back to the River by The Pretty Reckless, Leave the Light On by Elles Bailey

→ It's still very much In The Works, but I do have a little Kostya playlist here that is mostly instrumental spacey horror things atm! I listen to a lot of Colin Stetson just in general too for those delicious cosmic horror sounds for several of my characters, and for Kostya, Stetson's Colour Out of Space album is perfection 👌

→ But I would honestly love any recs for him because I really want to get this one up & finished one of these days, too — any spooky space things, 80's vibes, Soviet Union vibes... general ookiness... "running away from your problems" is also always on the Kostya Table
