THE PLAYLIST MEME

Inspired by a few conversations on discord (thanks Kates!)
—Post a top level with the your character, and a song or playlist that reminds you of them or you've made
—Tag in to others with songs that remind you of cr, or their character in general
—Listen to some sweet, sweet jams
Holland March | The Nice Guys
Great for jamming, just energetic to not put you to sleep but not distracting enough to cut off your concentration.

For anyone else interested, it's mostly 70s dad rock with a smattering of country. Good for driving with the windows down or while just chilling.

He's got a few songs on her playlist, but the main one is You Make Lovin' Fun, Fleetwood Mac (all of Rumours will make me think of them forever, thanks). To me it totally encapsulates how they kept coming back to each other for something that was fun and sweet and laid-back amidst The Horrors and how grateful she is to have someone around she could just enjoy herself with.
Breakdown by Tom Petty is kind of perfect for right now, considering it's all about loving someone and how whatever they choose, it's cool and that love doesn't go anywhere, even if it means leaving:
'Cause you could leave me if you want to, baby
I don't mind, I can stand it, I can face it
I could live with it every day of my life, it's alright
I don't mind
Boogie Wonderland is cheating since it's on TNG soundtrack and I know you use it for March, but I just wanna point out this verse which is ALL TOO Marchonna:
Midnight creeps so slowly into hearts of men
Who need more than they get
Daylight deals a bad hand to a woman
Who has laid too many bets
And, finally, California Dreamin' for a California boy <3

Tom Zane | Remedyverse
A special shout out to the poet and the muse, a canonical, in-universe song about him and the events that 'took place' before the first alan wake.
Wynonna Earp | Wynonna Earp
Have some other songs (first two with fanvids to accompany them! Warnings for Wynonna Earp spoilers through season 1 and a few for season 2):
— If I had to pick only one song to represent Wynonna, it's gotta be Gun in My Hand by Dorothy. Asking was it for redemption? was it for revenge? just fits S1 Wynonna and her core conflicts too perfectly.
— Raise Hell by Brandi Carlile is another great one for her that really leans into the outlaw/wild west feel of the series.
— And, of course, the series theme song Tell That Devil by Jill Andrews, along with its acoustic version (IYKYK).

Benton Fraser | Due South
There are a few songs that always make me think of him:
— Ride Forever is a country song written and performed by Fraser's actor, Paul Gross, in the show, and though the lyrics don't necessarily feel like Fraser to me, the overall message and feeling of the song — all about things that change and stay the same and freedom that's grounded in his homeland — definitely does. (Worth watching all the way through the video to see dozens of Mounties ride out of a train.)
— you cannot escape Sarah McLachlen while watching Due South, and the number one Sarah McLachlen song associated with the show is Possession, which is the theme to the toxic, doomed love between Fraser and the criminal Victoria Metcalfe.
— Northwest Passage by Stan Rogers could easily be Fraser's personal soundtrack. Not only does it reference the doomed Franklin expedition (which Fraser is canonically fascinated by) but it speaks to his desire to be an explorer and to leave cities and people behind and strike out alone under and open sky.

Cornelius Hickey | The Terror (AMC)
however, my playlist is better because Dave K is a COWARD and hasn't included any Eurovision songs. some highlights from my playlist include:
The Distance - Cake. Stopping and accepting your fate is for LOSERS, even if everybody else has accepted things and stopped the race. Keep going. Don't stop.
Rowboat Mayor - They Might Be Giants. What do you mean it's a bit embarrassing to be the boss of the world's smallest group. Sounds fake. Don't trust you.
Congratulations - Silvia Night. The anthem for delusional egotists everywhere.

I've been on a Decemberists kick lately, so can I offer The Cutting Stone and/or Culling of the Fold for our resident stabbity egomaniac?

Dorian Gray | The Confessions of Dorian Gray
"Eighth Wonder" - Lemon Demon. I am going to need everybody to google Gef the talking mongoose right now. Aside from that, it's a very Dorian coded song. Just so much bragging, so much self-aggrandizement, 'oooooh I'm so spooky and haunted' but like...it's a mongoose. Or a normal-ass dude. Just push him out a window and that'll incapacitate him for a bit.
"Chandelier" - Sia. Hey what if we just ignore all our trauma and repress all the horrors and do cocaine. Sounds great, A+ strategy, no notes.
"Love Song for a Vampire" - Annie Lennox. This is just Dorian and his dead vampire soulmate boyfriend. This is their anthem. They both are that fucking dramatic.

To me this song really speaks to Ned's internal struggles with his own fears and his worries about who (and what) he really is, along with the push and pull of everything he wants and won't let himself have... but the overall feeling of the song is hopeful and determined in a way that reminds me of him, with that touch of relief at the end with the light coming in...
Also offering Light in the Distance by Elles Bailey for some pain.

This song also LORNA NO...... oh this hurts in all the best ways, I love it.... these lyrics are 🤌🤌🤌

And I KNOW, I heard that Elles Bailey song and all I could think of was Ned's final moments.... let me make it up to you with a few Ned/Wynonna songs (is this where I admit I have a playlist for them?): Leaning on You by HAIM, Back to the River by The Pretty Reckless, Leave the Light On by Elles Bailey
