Re: Eduardo "Lalo" Samanca | Better Call Saul

It has crossed Lalo's mind that Louis is not, in fact, a regular human being, but a demon sent straight from Hell to torture Lalo personally. But of course that's ridiculous. But he is a gambling man, and he's determined to stand his ground no matter what. He's a Salamanca, after all. He doesn't cave to pressure.
So, despite the pounding of his chest, he gives Louis his best smile. He pulls a coin from his pocket. ]
"Are you a gamblin' man?" he says! Let's find out what I should put my money on. [ He holds up the coin. ] Tails, I die. [ So heads means-- you get it, Louis, you're smart. It means the other thing. He flips the coin, and catches it on the back of his palm, covering it with his hand.
His heart thuds with unexpected anxiety, but outwardly, he's cool and smiling. ]
Well? What do you think? Do you wanna to see what it says? Or should we leave it a mystery?

A gambler and a showman. Just unveil the thing 'fore we all turn to bones waitin' around.
[ "Head". Ha. Ha. He sees what you did there. ]

Tails.
Lalo feels a jolt when he first sees it, but then he himself is unsure how to feel, whether he's relieved or disappointed by the reveal. Lalo is, for once, silent; he just glances at Louis, trying to see if he can gather anything useful from Louis's reaction. ]

I'd make it quick and painless.
[ He says this readily with a brief flash of smiling teeth, because it's true. He clings to that truth to ignore the "fuck" part. ]

Lalo feels a shiver run down his spine at the sight of Louis's pearly whites. Goosebumps prickle up and down along his arms.
Lalo gives Louis a brief nod and smiles with his eyes; the smile doesn't quite reach his mouth. ]
Thanks, Louis. Spoken like a true Southern gentleman. If the time ever comes, I'll be grateful. [ He's about to leave the interaction at that, but something occurs to him. ]
Did I ever tell you that you remind me of someone I know from back home? He's a businessman too, like you. [ A much better change of topic that allows them both to pivot away from any acknowledgment of the "fuck" option, a way to avoid discussing what the result would've meant if the coin had landed the other way. ]

[ Louis is still thinking about the other side of the coin. He doesn't think he would, not because he's not into men, but because he's taken. And divorced, and single, and widowed... Vampire drama. ]

I'm glad you're more merciful.
[ Lalo winks. But then, it's not like Lalo would let Fring die quickly either, if he had the option otherwise. So maybe they're even.
At least now he's not thinking about the other side of the coin; he pushes it far from his mind. Would Lalo do it? It's hard to say, but he thinks he probably wouldn't either. If nothing else, he doesn't know if he could mentally or emotionally withstand the shame of having laid with another man like that, even though Louis is indeed very handsome and charming.
Perhaps it's fortunate for both of them that Louis is married/divorced/widowed at the same time. ]
