Welcome to Singillatim!
Glad you could be here! We hope you have a great time here in the Quiet Apocalypse. Don't lose too many fingers, this weather bites. Feel free to use this post to introduce yourself and your character and get to know your fellow players! Once you're accepted into the communities, feel free to start posting!

Hey!! I'm gabbie, finally bringing y'all another frigid uptight lieutenant from THEE doomed discovery voyage to the arctic... no I'm just kidding, it's sadly one of a disturbing many, but you know, That One. John Irving is a pious repressed evangelical who ~~should have bewared the ides of March~~ is very good at math and moralizing but not especially great at commanding authority or respect in his actual job; the kind of man who points out the ship's critical food shortage and imminent need for stricter rations but allows his captain to just brush him off, or runs to intervene with a murder while holding a gun but never thinks to actually use it. You know the kind. Decent at heart though, really, if you can describe any Victorian sailors as such. (Arguable.)

AMC's The Terror obviously takes a few liberties with the actual history, and therefore so too shall I, although the lost Franklin Expedition and John Irving are both quite real. I supplement here and there with history and book canon where gaps need filling, but only with details that don't/won't contradict the events of the show specifically. His info page is still a work in progress, but we're getting there...

I also don't know if you already have Living Arrangement thoughts for Jirv or if you were going to play those plans out in game, but just letting you know that I'm down if you might want to have these two staying together as an option (Little is currently living in a sad tiny cabin on the outskirts of town, but I was thinking he might move to a bigger place so he can offer more space to folks he wants to Keep An Eye On...)

Definitely zero pressure if you have other thoughts for him (or if Jirv would prefer his OWN place!!!) — Ned could also just help him find a good cabin, inevitably one very close to wherever he's going to be....! No matter what, I think it would be really cute if they end up staying close to one another (especially with Ned trying to Guard Dog him all the time....)

But yes yes yes everything and all of that, I'm really looking forward to it!! Been enjoying things with them already SO much, I feel like even despite the limited on-screen canon interactions between them it's just been clicking into place so naturally and I love that ;;

I don't have any plans, so co-habitating in a sad (less tiny) cabin sounds great...!! Irving's internal anchorite would adore it. Or like, neighboring or something, but he'd definitely want to be close by to Ned as well!! It's comforting okay... so yes, I'm happy with either option!

THEIR ONE TRULY HAPPY ON SCREEN MOMENT until the reason behind this icon happened.... Everything's fine..... and gosh same, I have been so well-fed with this incredible castmate interaction, I can't wait to do more ;~; All the juiciness of exploring those kinds of relationships / dynamics further, and also in a new setting, but one that's similar in many ways to their old one.... Seeing how they'll develop here is going to be so much fun ahhhh

ngl I think it would be so much fun to have them living together, can you imagine Lieut Cabin shenanigans... two men trying to figure out some Modern Things (Ned had a t.v. in his old cabin and like literally never touched it, not once, he's so scared), and survive this rugged life... Maybe Jirv coming in is the final push for Ned to get out of his one-man pathetic isolation cabin and actually find something better.... They could go househunting, Ned has like no taste so Jirv could even find something he likes (we could have all the fun googling potential cabin layouts and I'm 100% down to indulge anything you might be feeling....!)

(slams fist down on table) AND THEY WERE ROOMMATES- anyway YES yeah I totally agree with this, they need to be able to bond over this and also bitch together and take care of each other etc... so on... oh god PLEASE let them go househunting so Jirv can go full-on #cottagecore about it, just don't let him get too pedantic or you'll be searching for the Perfect Cabin forever ok

I DO think it'd be really fun to get a little upgrade and find a new place, Ned recently spent some time in a bigger cabin down at the other town Lakeside, and got kind of attached to actually getting to sit on a porch sometimes.... it was nice...! 👉👈 Also crying about the image of them bitching together, them like gossiping fvkfl Reporting Things to each other. Ned will tell him the important deets on everyone he knows....

God also. Imagine them like having formal dinners sometimes and wearing their little epaulets... Important to maintain a good image.....!!!

YES EXACTLY... a nice peaceful spot to paint and read a book and gently gossip with bestie over tea about all the horrors... the dream. SO YES maybe they can share for a bit and then upgrade, get a place with a porch they can be old men and sit in rocking chairs on... DINNER PARTIES, BIBLE STUDY, THE LOT

AHHHH i'm so glad you actually apped, your irving is SO good... i'm so happy to see him here!! enjoy your best snowy little town afterlife, jirv...

and i'm especially excited because i love the awkward interactions with the lieuts!! billy gibby can't escape them, not even here.. he will absolutely scramble to make sure irving never finds out that he's living together with hickey (even though it's pretty inevitable, this town is way too small to hide anything for too long..)

Welcome to the game! I already slammed into your plurk, but I'm Lorna and I play this disaster child Wynonna Earp, who Irving has already met, and Constable Benton Fraser, who Irving will probably get along with a lot better. Wynonna's for sure going to want to get to know him due to his proximity to a fair amount of her CR, and she's definitely going to get the dirt on him from her bff Jopson. Who is this guy.

I'd love to keep their tdm thread canon, mostly because I found it completely hilarious, but if you want a do-over, I'm fine with that, too! Either way I'll throw Fraser at him at some point; he's a huge Franklin Expedition fanboy and has met almost all the crew in Sing at this point. Unlike Wynonna, he won't make any dick jokes or allusions to sex, and he wholeheartedly enjoys watercolors, singing, and climbing exercises on their own merits! Let him teach you how to play hockey, Jirving!

Yes yes yes Wynonna may DEFINITELY have all the gossip from the other cold boys, this one is... a piece of work, even among other pieces of work 🫡🙏

Also, AGREED, I'd love to keep their thread, & will of course want more CR with her for sure, as well as Mr Fraser!! Jirv will like him very much I'm sure. My current mental image was that he'd probably get accidentally kneecapped by a hockey stick almost immediately, but REGARDLESS...... tell him more he's listening

I love the Terror when it first came out, so I’m excited to see people RPing from the show. I’m Devi and I play Jessica from True Blood, which is a show about vampires and other supernaturals, but it’s mostly centered around dumb Deep South antics.

Hi Devi!! Honestly I was just so thrilled to discover that sing actually had a Terror cast (not that it doesn't make perfect sense that it would) and am very excited to be joining it. I'm not particularly canon familiar with True Blood apart from some characters and details via overall osmosis, but Irving will obviously need to interact with (and likely be Very Uncomfortable about) vampires and other supernaturals while he's here, so I'm looking forward to seeing how that CR might go down 😌
