Town Meeting

Town Meeting

Town Meeting

With the recent events that have transpired in regards to Young Bill's plan to starve out the Forest Talkers — the eco-terrorist group that has been hounding him and leaving macabre scenes all over the Lakeside area, Interlopers have called a town meeting to discuss what to do on this.

Rather than playing out the Town Meeting, like with the Darkwalker's second attack, consider this post an OOC post of that meeting, for players to share their character's thoughts and feelings on the situation — along with the best approach in regards to Young Bill's proposal.

Players are free to thread out scenes from the Town Meeting in their own event toplevels/open posts if they wish to do so — but this is more of a quick catchall on character's thoughts that's more accessible to everyone — and players can have their characters +1 ideas they agree with!

Please fill out the following form.

EDIT: THERE IS A POLL FOR INTERLOPERS TO VOTE ON

Character Thoughts/Ideas:

* Randvi is against starving out the Forest Talkers in the way that Young Bill has suggested. There are nearly as many of them as there are interlopers and evidence suggests they're better armed. Also, they have the advantage of being familiar with hunting in the area and knowing where the caches are. There's no point in issuing an ultimatum without actually laying siege to their base.
* The way this is set up invites retaliation against Milton, which is great for Bill but no one else. If they insist on provoking the Talkers, Randvi wants to trap the mine so they can collapse the entrance in the event of an attack.

Doing something about the mine entrance. If not collapsing it at least have somebody stationed there (snipers? lookouts with aurora call?) in case something happens.

Aurora call is a good idea… I saw someone else mention smoke signals but with the fog I don't know if they'd be visible.

Smoke signals could also work! But yeah there's the fog making them unreliable, also a smoke signal could be tampered with more easily than aurora call...

Kate isn't hyped on collapsing the cave entrance, given that it's their only way they know of to get in and out of Milton right now.

Exactly, which means if the Forest Talkers make a move through there and get the mine dropped on them, either the interlopers will find another entrance when the Talkers use it or they can't be flanked 😌

But...... what if the Interlopers end up getting trapped in Milton.... 🥺🥺🥺

They're all but trapped in Milton already unless there's a way out on the Lakeside end.

Fraser agrees that defending themselves is the better move here. He would want to have options before trapping the mine and cutting themselves off from Lakeside, and would suggest leaving that as an absolute last resort.

He'd also point out that there's plenty of game and resources in Lakeside to go around, and perhaps what they should do instead of raid the caches is put together hunting parties that will a. include enough armed people to discourage attack and b. allow Miltonites to hunt larger animals like moose and bear to bring more food back to the town.

The fact that there are so many resources there does make starving the Talkers out by removing pre-packaged food seem kind of impossible.

Hunting parties aren’t a bad idea, especially if they do raid the ammunition from the caches.
