With the recent events that have transpired in regards to Young Bill's plan to starve out the Forest Talkers — the eco-terrorist group that has been hounding him and leaving macabre scenes all over the Lakeside area, Interlopers have called a town meeting to discuss what to do on this.

Rather than playing out the Town Meeting, like with the Darkwalker's second attack, consider this post an OOC post of that meeting, for players to share their character's thoughts and feelings on the situation — along with the best approach in regards to Young Bill's proposal.

Players are free to thread out scenes from the Town Meeting in their own event toplevels/open posts if they wish to do so — but this is more of a quick catchall on character's thoughts that's more accessible to everyone — and players can have their characters +1 ideas they agree with!

Character Thoughts/Ideas:

• Never mind that he's sporting a particularly nasty black eye from the last time he tried to keep the peace! He's going to keep trying!!

• Edward will be vehemently opposed to confrontational retaliation against the Forest Talkers. He will bring up (or reiterate, as it's likely to be brought up more than once) the fact that they shot and very likely could have killed two women, and that such an incident has already proven how they would handle a perceived threat. Why would we put more Interlopers' lives at risk, already knowing their capacity for violence?

• This of course means that he will be resolutely against any talks of kidnapping / holding hostages. There are far too many risks associated with that concept, in his opinion, and backlash that could affect the towns and the Interlopers as a whole. There is no guarantee that the Forest Talkers would acquiesce or negotiate in response, and it could simply make matters worse. There would be no going back from such an action taken, and it isn't worth that risk. Also worth mentioning is that it is going to be more difficult to keep our community safe against any backlash, now that we have split off into Milton and Lakeside residences.

• He is also against trying to starve them out. Not only is this also not a guarantee and something that could potentially backfire / read as a blatant act of aggression and an attempt on their lives themselves, but it's also needlessly cruel. He will not directly voice this to the throng, but for one on one conversations (which I'd be down to play out!), he might bring up that he has seen men slowly starve to death in such a cold place, and it is a fate he would not wish on anyone. In the process of survival, we must not lose our humanity.

• As far as what action can be taken, he will agree with the proposed offers to reach out to the Forest Talkers via notes left at the caches, and offers to trade with them. Perhaps we can find out if they need any particular resources and would be willing to exchange. He agrees that their presence is unfavourable and that this new.... activity of theirs is ghastly, certainly it should not be ignored, but presenting ourselves as a threat in response could doom us all. We need to be very cautious about this.

• All of this said, Edward does understand that some people are going to head out and try to loot some supplies from the caches no matter what, so he will be insistently offering to accompany them as an armed guard. Please do not go alone!! Let Nanny Little go with you.... He'll announce that he'll be heading out to Lakeside soon anyway to spend some time checking in on things and keep an eye out on this current situation, so he'll be around and extremely willing to play Guard Dog.
