Character Name: Charles Rowland
Canon: Dead Boy Detectives
Residence: An absolute shithole on 73 Wolfjaw Road that he's trying to fix up (handypeople who can help with that would be cool!).
Notable CR: He's reluctantly been adopted by Arthur, so people who know Arthur may have heard mention of the wayward teen he's become so concerned about.
Skills: Combat (mediocre, mostly with handheld weapons), lockpicking. Bad jokes. Definitely not basic household tasks.
Aurora Feat: n/a

Wanted CR: Friends!!! He's a highly social person struggling with the relative isolation of winter here. Also: trustworthy adults he can learn to depend on, other dead/supernatural/immortal types, other mystery-solving types, serious people who absolutely cannot stand him, people he can take care of, people who can relate to his history of abuse and violence and help him open up. And literally pretty much anyone else.
Unwanted CR: He's a huge flirt and I'm open to age-appropriate crushes, but he is not emotionally available for any actual teen romances.

Day to Day: So right now with it being hardcore winter, Charles is spending a lot of his time inside his house, trying to make it more livable. Trips into town will often be to look for supplies to help with that, and maybe ask for home improvement advice. If your character knows how to fix the hole in his floor, find him a mattress without a possible decomposition stain, or basically do most household cleaning tasks that he's never had to do before, then step right up!

The Story So Far / Plans: Charles spent most of November thinking he was a living boy from 1989, which brought a lot of shit from his life right up close to the surface. In the aftermath though he got his first hug from an adult in several decades, which was a big step towards letting himself be looked after. He also got his first friend on his CR chart, and danced with a boy for the first time, so progress is being made on our slow, arduous journey towards getting to somehow be a real teenager in a frozen wasteland.

I definitely need to do more with my guys and Charles! Love how Ned pings in all the Worst Ways with his Extreme Sideburns but he's actually like the least dangerous person in this place, a newborn infant could manipulate him into doing what it wants.....

And I'm excited to toss Kostya at him again sometime! He's been lying low for awhile ever since gruesomely killing & feeding on someone (as one does), but he'll be poking his back out now and would absolutely want to check back in with Charles. He could help him with some Cleaning & Maintenance Tasks (of which his celebrity ass has very little experience, so that could be funny — he's also not doing well these days so there's every possibility he ends up yucking up blood in the process,) or they could maybe hang out somewhere around town. Kostya would 100% invite him to do fun things while also being lowkey awkward about it, he has no idea what he's doing around Young People!!

Also something potentially interesting for the future: Kostya recently learned his roomie is some flavour of undead and doesn't really understand it or how to help him with it, so if he ever learns about Charles that could be some kind of potential! He'd definitely take interest for many reasons (he's also very fond of Kieren, just how many Sad Undead Guys are there in this place...)

LMAO Nedward’s extreme awkwardness definitely signaled to Charles that he’s harmless, even if he likely has some antiquated views (though Charles definitely assumes they’re things like homophobia and racism, not thinking he’s a Boy of the Night). I’d love for them to talk more and shock Ned with more future values!!!

And YES I’m amped for more Kostya, he’s fast on his way to being an adult Charles trusts. A thread of equally inept home improvement would be so great, and it could be a great opportunity for Kostya to put the last pieces of the puzzle together about Charles being something Different, and have that talk.

I’ll put up an open log before the month’s end and we can figure out some starters if you want!

For sure want Charles and Wynonna to meet up again, and as I said before I'd love for him and Fraser to meet. In fact, Fraser will probably swing by to help out with the house, and I'd be happy to put up a starter for that!

Wynonna is also a shockingly trustworthy adult when it comes to helping out teens; she's very close to Kate and Ruby and was a wayward teen herself, so she Gets It.

YES I have definitely been wanting CR with Fraser! I’m familiar with him from RP osmosis. I was planning to put up some starters in the next few days so I’ve got that covered. Come help his useless ass figure out how to do basic home repair.

Also I’m so hyped for Wynonna. She’s a kind of adult Charles has never really encountered before, even in Sing, who won’t make him feel like he’s going to get in trouble. I’d love to explore that more.

and YES, I definitely want more Wynonna and Charles! she's only barely and adult and spent so much time getting in trouble as a teenager that she definitely wouldn't inflict any of that on him. plus I think she kind of sees a lot of how she used to be (and honestly still is) in him, and I'd love to explore that, too!
