Whewwww I mean!! Joel, maybe you're not wrong about that! But beefing with some dudes with the all-knowing type vibes, that takes bravery. Max can salute him from the other side of the hill.

TDM works! OR, alternatively, possibilities: some reason for them to acknowledge/admire each other's abilities/attitude/general Vibe (annoyed survivalist) and one seeks the other out for something. Max looking for advice as the New Guy? Equipment sharing? Gun talk? Max sees Joel shoot something from X meters and is like (whistles admiringly)?
