THE AURORA: ENOLA’S VISIT

WHEN: September 21st.
WHERE: Everywhere.

In the late afternoon, when the sky is still light, you hear the telltale signs of an Aurora. The endless hum, punctuated by cracks that echo across the air. There’s the strange ethereal shrill sounds made by no instrument known to man, faint at first but growing louder. As you look towards the skies, you can see the faint swirl of colours in the daylight. The electricity of the world comes to life, flickering and sparking erratically.

As the day shifts into evening and the skies darken, those colours in the sky begin to brighten: purples, pinks, red, greens and yellows — an abstract painting of colour and light that paints the sky brighter than any day, so bright the stars look like ghosts. The Aurora has come, and Interlopers settle in for a long night of noise and light.

Whenever you find yourself alone, she will come to you. You might be out in town, you might be sat in your cabin by the fire. You are alone and in a blink, she’s standing with you: a woman dressed in furs, one side of her face blackened and withered, the eye missing. Her remaining blue eye is bloodshot and exhausted. Her hands are caked in blood, old and new. She is dishevelled. Enola has seen better days, but she stands proud as she stares at you.

If you have spoken to, or seen Enola before — she greets you warmly like an old friend. If this is your first time seeing or speaking with Enola, she introduces herself: My name is Enola, I’m one of you. I’m here to help.

“Time is running out.” she tells you. “Things are changing. You’ve probably seen it, felt it. How the wildlife shifts, how the winters never end, how the world trembles.”

While prevalent long before Interlopers ever came to the Northern Territories, the seismic activity in the world has been a staple in recent times.

“Caged animals grow restless.” She’ll take a moment to walk around you, looking around with interest: examining homes of their contents, or taking a moment to appreciate the lush green trees. She takes genuine enjoyment out of it, smiling softly.

“I can still help.” she says suddenly, looking up at you. “I’ve seen you use your gifts well, learn how to control them. You learn so quickly. But more of you keep arriving, and this world keeps growing colder and crueller.”

She looks above you, or towards a window if you’re outside. She is silent for a long time.

“It was never supposed to be like this.” her voice is soft, sad. You notice there are tears in her eyes.

“Sleep, and it will come to you. If you choose for it.”

In an instant, she is gone. But when you go to sleep that night, a dream may come to you.

MOON TOUCHED: The colours of the Aurora dance around you in your dreamscape. You dream of running through the silent woods at night. The moon is full above you, the air is calm and still. Hunger draws you forward, everything is so sharp and vivid in your senses, even in this dreamscape. You hear the crispness of the snow beneath your feet, smell the scent of the pines on the air, feel how warm you are against the coldness around you.

The snuffling of a rabbit catches your attention, and you swiftly leap after it, jaws opening and closing around its neck as you capture it. You bite down hard, feeling the crunch of its bones as they break, the sweet coppery taste of blood filling your mouth and nose. You lift your head towards the stars, blood on your tongue. You realise you are not a person at all, but a beast on all fours: a wolf, content and filling your belly with meat.

You wonder, for a brief moment: were you ever a person at all?

You do not know the answer to the question. You do not seem to worry about such a thing but there’s a flash of warning on the air. Something you cannot quite place, but you know that you should not forget it.

When you awaken, you feel… different, somehow. Everything seems a little sharper, as if the world around you had been dull, or behind some pane of frosted glass. With it comes a strange balance of calmness and chaos, tameness and wildness, fear and bravery. You find yourself looking for the moon in the skies and when you finally find it, it hits you — this is what it means to be Moon Touched.

LIGHT BRINGER: The colours of the Aurora dance around you in your dreamscape. You dream of sitting by a lonely campfire in the mouth of a cave at night, warming your hands. As you sit, a strange feeling comes over you, a desire to reach out to the flames. And so you do, reaching with both hands into the fire — gripping at the white-hot embers. It burns you, and for a moment there is blinding hot pain as the fire suddenly explodes around you, consuming you whole. But the pain soon stops. The fire doesn’t burn you. No, you have become the blaze — your body warmed. You burn bright enough that the darkness around you turns into day.

When you awaken the next morning, you feel warmed and comfortable. As if even the coldest of winters couldn’t reach your bones. The warmth remains even when the Aurora ends, and you are left with the innate understanding:you are the Lightbringer. The power of flame is at your very fingertips. You master the light, life, warmth.

AURORA CALL: The colours of the Aurora dance around you in your dreamscape. You dream you are standing in the very sky itself, at the Aurora’s height. Colour and sound twirls around you, within you — and you feel it curl into your body. Your head fills with noise, a chorus of voices calling out, snippets of conversation echoing within you. Enola’s voice calls to you: “Don’t you understand it now? We are all connected. The Aurora connects us.”

And you do, you do understand it.

When you awaken, you feel connected to the world around you. To the very people who live amongst you. You feel less lonely, a kind of kinship with others. You have heard the Aurora’s Call and you have answered it, unlocked a connection with your fellow Interlopers. You will be heard.

NOTHING: The colours of the Aurora dance around you in your dreamscape, but only for a moment. The edges of your vision begin the blur with black, slowly closing in until everything goes dark and you fall into a deep, dreamless sleep. You awaken, and although you feel rested, as if the dreamless darkness has helped you feel a little more ready to take on the day — nothing else about you has changed.

THE AURORA: KICKBACK

WHEN: September 22nd.
WHERE: Everywhere.

When you awaken the next morning, the sky is impossibly dark. There is no daylight, there is only endless night. No moon, no stars, no sun. The sky is empty. A void. Just the darkness and the green gloom — the telltale sign of what is to come: the Darkwalker.

You awaken and the cold fear washes over you; a vice-like grip on your throat, squeezing, choking. The air is heavy, oppressive: fear, anxiety, anger. The day is eerily still, and even as you try to go about your day — you know something is coming, your instincts tell you as much.

And you’re right: the ancient, impossible voice finally crawls into your ear.

“The First is desperate.” the Darkwalker sneers.”Look at how she tries to protect her precious brethren. Arms you for a world that you were never meant to be in: the interloper in nature’s design.”

The earth shudders beneath you, things begin to shake and tremble around you.

“I am not some weak, powerless thing.” The Darkwalker tells you. “Even if I am bound, I am inevitable and so very hungry. The table is laid, and I will have my fill — as it is meant to be.”

The Darkwalker howls: indescribable, unnatural, demonic — breaking off into dark laughter. The earth shudders again.

“I will break you down from within, and if I cannot — I will break you down by one another’s hands once more. I am the Rot within you.”

Above you, white-hot green lightning streaks across the skies like cracks — impossibly bright. Something shifts within you, a growing tension. The anger within you builds. A familiar sensation for some: a bitter gnawing within you. The nightmarish green gloom above you persists and everything bubbles up from within.

It is not the first time the Darkwalker has done this. Many remember only too well the Summer Solstice of last year. By now, many wear talismans crafted to ward off the Darkwalker’s influence. But not everyone, and the Darkwalker’s influence is stronger now. From the dark, the anger within you becomes too much. The tension finally snaps with another crackle of lighting across the skies — and in the flash of it for a brief moment: the giant three-headed wolf skull, eyes glowing sickly green.

Another night of violence is upon the Interlopers: a vicious argument where you air your grievances, or finally let slip the things you’ve been holding close to your chest. A verbal beat down, incredibly hurtful in nature. For others, things may be drawn to getting physical. A literal beat down where your fists grow bruised and bloody, or perhaps even worse. Whatever it is, you want to do damage to someone else — there is darkness here, and so many things come out in the dark, don’t they?

Chaos erupts once more.

But there is noise above you this time, a furious unseen battle. The skies are not just empty and green, but a furious blaze of light of the Aurora streaks across the skies. Enola is grasping for control, and there are sounds of pain — as she tries to end the madness.

“Leave them be, Devourer.” Enola’s voice booms across the air like the cracking of ice of a frozen lake.

As Interlopers fall to chaos and madness with fists, weapons and words: Enola and the Darkwalker battle against one another. The skies flash violently with green streaks of lightning and the sharp colours of the Aurora: a frightening sight and it’s almost impossible to truly describe the sights before you — should you have a moment to look up.

Hide, or fight. Survive.

The night is long. The fight above you goes on for hours, and ends with a tearing of the skies and the world snaps to normal. You hear a gasp of pain from Enola, then nothing. The air is silent and clear above, but blood may have already been spilled below.

AS THE DEAD SLEEP

WHEN: The month of September.
WHERE: Everywhere.

In the Quiet Apocalypse, it is easy to see the world sitting on the long road of the End of Things. Everything must end, that is part of nature. All things begin and all things end. So many Interlopers have been ripped from their worlds, often in the midst of crisis, trouble or change. And with it comes a pause, something left unfinished. The end has not been completed.

It is a notion that greets you when you awaken one morning. A compulsion. An itch. One might try to press it down, ignore it as much as you can. But the longer it is ignored, the more the feeling becomes. You go about your business and the feeling grows: a blooming sensation in your chest and the innate understanding: all things must end. It is a desperate, lonely feeling.

Perhaps it is not the end of you, but the end of something else. A life, a friendship, a loved one. Perhaps something left unsaid, something left undone. Whatever it is, you find yourself thinking of it constantly, even when you particularly don’t want to. It feels… wrong, to leave such a thing unfinished. To keep putting such a thing off feels unnatural. And that feeling inside of you comes almost too much to bear.

Whatever it is, you must put it to rest.

For Interlopers, a different destination will come to them. They may wish to go out into the wilds. Others may wish to go to the Church in Milton, or at Silverpoint. Some may wish to travel to the edge of the ravine, or even to some part of Lakeside. Some may wish to stand on the edges of the ice upon the seas at the Coast. Whatever or wherever they feel they need to get to — a distance will need to be covered, to find somewhere quiet and alone. They will prepare themselves for the journey and leave to go on to put something, whatever it may be, to rest. To say goodbye.

And so you walk, through the snow and wind, your thoughts occupied. You must say goodbye, you must bury something, you must finish what needs to be finished. But… other thoughts mingle within your own. You cannot recall where they come from, but they feel like yours, somehow. Like something deep down within your spirit, pooling out from it and drifting into your mind. Soft prayers, hushed apologies — even if the words are not your own, they have never felt truer. They weigh upon you, so heavy despite their softness:

… The night was so bright, too bright to count the stars. We forgot about them. … And yet it was a bitter and empty place. Did you truly know, somehow?

Did who know? Did they know what? There are so many questions, but you cannot seem to find the answers to them. It is a quiet agony. There are more thoughts:


… I could not go. I would not. Why couldn't you hold out? Why couldn't I let go?

Who’s thoughts are these? Even if they are not your own, they seem to make sense, somehow. Perhaps you piece things together, make them your own thoughts. Perhaps there was something you could not let go of. Perhaps there was someone who could not hold on. Perhaps there you were stubborn, too stubborn.

… The world falling away. The lights, they used to go on. Please forgive me.

The final words linger within you as you finally come to a stop. Here. This is where you must stop. Here you will lay it to rest. Your hands reach for the snow, fingers clawing into the frozen white. Perhaps you wish to lay it beneath the ice. You prepare. Perhaps it is an item you bury, some small token that represents what it is you wish to finish. Perhaps you are drawn to write something down: a name, a secret, an apology. Or perhaps you simply wish to make some kind of symbolic grave: decorated with stones and even crafting some kind of marker for it.

You will not stop until it is done, even if the day grows darker and colder. You will work until you have finished it. If others have come with you, you will feel compelled to unburden yourself of this loss, this thing you must finally put to bed. You do not have to be alone in saying goodbye.

And when it is done, you feel lighter, somehow. Forgiven, perhaps. As if the very thing that has weighed down so terribly upon you has lessened, eased. Things feel right once more.

As the dead sleep, you are here and alive — for now.

SIGNAL VOID

WHEN: Aurora nights, the month of September, onwards.
WHERE: Everywhere.

In July, Interlopers who tackled the Cannery and fought against the Timberwolves that had made their home there managed to recover some shortwave radios. These radios were given to Marra, who has managed to get these devices working again despite the Aurora’s effects on electronics.

No one can say for sure how Marra has managed to do this, much like how she manages to ensure the lighthouse works at all times. Even her own answers have proved insufficient, but she cannot even explain it herself: for some reason I can keep this place going. I'm in here and the light still shines, and I don't know why.

Having been returned to Interlopers via Molly at the Frozen Angler, Interlopers across the Northern Territories will have access to these tools. While not enough for everyone to have one each, Interlopers will need to share the radios as they navigate the world. The radios don’t work like regular walkie-talkies, but will work by using them to send morse code messages — like how telegrams work. But in the month of September, during Aurora nights, these radios start picking up strange signals.

The signal seems to appear on the radios like some kind of radar, with the screen lighting up and flashing, and a beeping sound emitting from the radio. Following the flashing and beeping on the radios, Interlopers will find that they are being led to something — with the lights and sounds increasing in frequency and intensity the closer they get.

The signals will lead Interlopers to bunkers, buried in the snow. Interlopers will need to dig through the snow to reach the door, and the doors themselves will be heavy and difficult to open. Inside, Interlopers will find a shelter that has been carved into the earth, and modest caches of stocks that have been lost to time: food, water, medical supplies, tools, books, weapons. It looks as if these bunkers were created as places of protection in the event of some kind of nuclear war, or some kind of apocalypse prepper — clearly a great deal of work has gone into crafting these places.

However there are certain dangers when it comes to traversing the world during the Aurora. Wildlife tends to become more volatile during these nights, and will actively seek out Interlopers who are out in the wilds following the signals on their radios. Packs of wolves, solitary wolves or even bears and wild cats can be found stalking after Interlopers who may be out.

The threat of these predators is high, and they will actively attack Interlopers. But it’s worth the risk of more supplies: the endless night is on the way as the daylight hours grow thin and bitter winter draws in.

But it is not just these bunkers that the radios reveal: in addition, another signal is being broadcast. One that may be familiar to some Interlopers. A broken message from last year, recorded in the diary of a firewatcher:

FAQs

THE AURORA: ENOLA'S VISIT

1. Aurora Feats are unlocked! For this round, RNG picked Lightbringer, Moon Touched and Aurora Call.

2. Please see the following page for more information. Aurora Feats are completely optional.

3. Interlopers will only receive ONE Aurora Event. The only time this is available is this month. After September, players will have to wait for the next Feat round for another chance at an Aurora Feat.

THE AURORA: KICKBACK

1. Characters are free to use this event to kill NPC Interlopers. Other NPCs, especially named ones (ie. Methuselah, Molly, Marra, etc.), are off the table, as are two marked NPC Interlopers. Please let Mods know if you intend on doing this for record keeping!

2. These acts of violence can be physical or verbal altercations, players are encouraged to work with the prompt however they'd like! However, anything potentially world-altering (ie. building destruction) must be first discussed with mods.

3. Interlopers under the Darkwalker's influence can be stopped in a number of ways. Showing genuine care and compassion in the face of violence is one way, saving them with the power of love/friendship. Knocking an Interloper out is another way. Sometimes killing an Interloper may be needed, or simply restraining them and keeping them locked up somewhere so they can't hurt anyone else until the night is over would also work.

4. Interlopers with the Darkwalker's Revenge Feat will be incredibly energised by the Darkwalker's influence on the world and feel at their physical peak. They will also be more susceptible to the Darkwalker's influence to be violent, meaning it will take extra work to break them out from the Darkwalker's hold.

5. Interlopers with warding talismans anointed with Interloper blood will be the least susceptible to the Darkwalker's influence to be violent, but can still be influenced eventually as the night goes on — especially if they have any grudges or interpersonal issues going on.

6. Interlopers who have natural penchants for violence or darker impulses will also be more susceptible to the Darkwalker's influence.

AS THE DEAD SLEEP

1. Items don't have to just be buried, they could also be burned, or sunk into a body of water.

2. It doesn't have to be a specific item, but could be something symbolic of the thing that the Interloper wants to 'put to rest'.

Randvi made her a talisman so she'll be sane for this event and trying to help people snap out of it. Maybe by knocking them unconscious or, if she must, stabbing them. She's not against bloodshed and this kid isn't afraid of a fight or death (but no death pls ty). If you're close CR, she'll try to talk you out of fighting, but she won't hesitate for stabbery if she's given no other choice. Don't worry, she's a helper!

Since she's well and good from Verso's ending, with all the goodbyes very established, if forced, there isn't much left to do in the direct sense. So!!

This kid is going to find a cliff and write in a book. Who wants to come for the ride? Or who wants to watch her write in a book? It's you. Of course it's you!

She has Gustave's journal with her and she's been ignoring it for a while, so it fits that she'd feel compelled to write in it again and catch up on what's happened. But it's gotta be a cliff, for whatever reason. I don't know where the nearest cliff is but we're doing it.

Wanted CR: Friends, hunting/adventure/fighting off dangerous critter buddies, it'd be cool if he clicked with someone enough to offer to teach them weapons or hunting. Also, he is a medieval fantasy archer and therefore going to be a little confused initially, so if someone would be willing to explain a bit about the situation it would be much appreciated. Especially when the fights break out, because otherwise he might just assume it's Demons Again and that NPC interlopers are fair game 🙃.

I'd love for someone to teach him how to use a gun, otherwise he'll have to figure it out himself. Maybe as a trade?

Other than that, since he's a new character I'm mostly just planning to establish some CR and have him familiarize himself with his surroundings/tag into other people's starters. I might have him get attacked by a couple of NPC interlopers because he has a canon tendency to enrage every hostile in the immediate area.

Hickey is also Moon Touched and is kind of weird about it in the way that a lot of other in-game wolves aren't. The moment he spots a new wolf, he will absolutely get up in Ironeye's business, hey how are you doing, wolves are cool aren't they, team up with him to hunt wolf pack style.

Wanted CR: Friends, definitely. Being an anti-capitalist Terminator was hard, and all his friends aside from Johnny are back home. Sparring partners? Sparring partners. He doesn't want to lose his gains, needs to test what his new limits are now. Hunting buddies, teamwork makes the dream work. Fellow collaborators towards improving their living situation. This place is an anarchist's dream come true. No corpos, no masters.

Unwanted CR: Romance's off the table as well as negative CR for the sake of it. Other than that? Go nuts.

Event Ideas: Signal Void, definitely. V is an urban ninja, he's great at recon, loves exploring places, especially dangerous places. Kickback has good opportunities for CR building since he can be both a 'power of friendship' kind of guy (won lots of people over in his canon that way) or he can use non-lethal takedowns to stop people from getting too crazy. Or he could lose his shit too, Berserk was his OS of choice and it did exactly what it sounds like. Plenty of regrets too, As The Dead Sleep would be good for building CR by getting some backstory outta a protagonist who hates talking about himself—he's chatty about dumb shit, the yapper's curse, but superficial about his past.

Powers-wise I'll be going with Aurora Call, but! He'll likely only use it on Johnny. He's all too aware of how violating it can be to have Some Guy saying shit inside your head without permission, so he'll be extremely hesitant to use it on people without permission. Also because it makes him feel crazy. Like you all can hear that? Shit.

Other than that, just want to focus on building CR since he's new, familiarize himself with the setting. A-OK with him getting attacked by fellow interlopers or NPCs. A-OK with him losing too, he's out of his depth without his cyberwear. His 100% fleshy body is foreign to him still, he's gonna struggle.

Wanted CR: Pretty much everything! Friends!!! People around her own age to befriend!!! Fellow nerds!!! Religious sorts!!! Grumbly sorts she can win over by being good and soft!!! She's kind of fitting into a kind of Support Role route with things after she did her rosehip stuff, via foraging, cooking, medical/first aid, etc.

Unwanted CR: I prefer not to have negative CR for the sake of it. I like my negative CR to be interesting, or to develop eventually. Romance is also off the table for her as she's got a Thing with Tim Drake (they're Going Through It).

Event Ideas:

— ENOLA'S VISIT / KICKBACK A visit from Enola!! She will be thrilled, tbh. She's big on Enola tbh. Kate will be getting her final Aurora Feat: Lightbringer — giving her combo name of Messiah Complex, lmao. Meaning she's gonna be toasty to be close to, but also have the potential of burning things/others/herself by accident if she doesn't keep her emotions in check.

She has an warding talisman made by Heartman (OG Talisman, sob) so she'll be certainly keeping her wits about her and won't be hit by the Darkwalker's influence too much, but she'll absolutely be freaked out by what's going on. I'm down for getting her thrown into things and potentially having her defend herself or come to someone else's aid using newly acquired Lightbringer Feat — considering she was almost murdered last year. It's not gonna be perfect but still!!!

She also has Interloper's Sacrifice, meaning she's has healing powers. So I'm down for Kate throwing herself into things and helping to save others/heal them of injuries they get during the night.

— AS THE DEAD SLEEP I'm kinda torn on this one, as I'm not 100% sure I wanna go with this one. But Kate did receive her Dark Room Binder last year in the Painful Reminders prompt, containing all the photos Jeffershit took of her. She's just kind of... sat on and not addressed it. She could 'put this to rest' by way of thinking of moving forwards rather than looking back — she has people who love and care about her in game, compared to how alone she feels back home. So it could be potentially meaningful for her to let this go.

Alternatively, I am absolutely here for Kate being here for others when they're putting their own issues to rest and being supportive/comforting for them.

— SIGNAL VOID She won't be going off far from Milton, in all honesty so potentially down for Kate helping to find a bunker in the Milton region, provided she's going along with some responsible adults l-lol.

Unwanted CR: No romance! It's not for her. I'm also not up for 'found family' CR if presented in that way, because she just won't understand it - 'friends and comrades' are what she's looking for.

Event Ideas: Tayrey will likely not be getting another Aurora Feat this time around, unless I come up with something I particularly want to do with Lightbringer.

Signal Void is the big and obvious one. She has a radio, she has been taught Morse Code, and she absolutely loves the idea of stockpiling. Investigate with her? Show up at the same time as her and argue over resources? Fight a bear together? I've got some flexibility on location.

The Aurora: Kickback. Tayrey is not a fan of the Darkwalker and will be telling him to get out of her head and shut up. Unfortunately, she doesn't believe in talismans and won't be wearing one, so there's the option for her to get suddenly violent. This is something I'd rather do as a closed starter with someone who at least knows her well enough to know how out of character it is! Her Code forbids initiating violence. Happy for her to lose the fight and get restrained or knocked out, but not for permanent injury. She'll feel terrible about it afterwards!

She can, however, be utilized as a bouncer, especially if people are brawling in her saloon. The shoe's on the other foot now, huh, Wynonna?

The big thing will be that Wynonna will be facing the consequences of her own actions in the form of Cris Velasco, a friend of the man she killed last year, now out for revenge of his own. (Will this make Wynonna rethink her own revenge-tinged lifestyle? Stay tuned!) This will probably escalate to the point where Edward Little will intervene to save her life, but I'm happy to have them have a few run-ins first if anyone else wants to try their hand at talking Cris down from murder.

Wynonna has actually managed to grow and mature in her time here at Sing, and as she comes up on her 29th birthday and her second year here, I'm interested in having her finally put her guilt over accidentally killing her father to rest (the other option is her guilt over not finding Willa, but that's harder for her to let go.) This is a big thing for her and I would prefer it to be with known CR, especially someone who knows her terrible secret regarding her father's death. I've been saying it for a while but John's getting AURORA CALL so you can all get to experience what it's like to be Arthur and have his voice in the back of your head. He's going to sound a little less human given that there's no physics to get in the way of him sounding like a Great Old One so that could be some fun.

Of the Darkstalker's bullshit, John is not at all frightened; do you know who you're talking to, buddy? But he is going to be very afraid for Arthur and Kostya and keeping an eye on known DR holders (like Dorian) and I'm up for doing something or not with that.

As the Dead Sleep

John will be burying a project he'd been working on for Charlie: a sweater. Originally, he'd intended to switch up the sizing and use the yarn for something for Arthur but the event will have him buyring the half-finished sweater, alongside the post it note that he'd once put on the message board for Charlie, anyone who gets in his way is going to get a *lot* of cranky eldritch horror.

Signal Void

John is going to argue to Arthur for them to make the journey; with Charlie gone, he'll not want to stay in the house and a part of him is convinced that their complacency and playing it safe is part of why he's gone. Once I've talked to Arthur's player more, happy to chat details.

Anything Else?: John just lost one of exactly *two* people he cares about from his own universe to a disappearance so he's not doing the best. The one thing that's keeping him buoyed is the fact that he has to stay alive to protect the goofy baby creature he's come to love.

enola's visit. I'm considering giving him a third & final feat with Aurora's Call! He already has a very soft heart for Enola, considering she reminds him of someone from his own world and her suffering has been immense... Let her rest... I think this feat could also help him with some of the isolation he's been feeling (and inducing) now that he's a spooky creature of the night...

kickback. So Ned's been spending a lot of time as a wolf lately, to kind of draw a needed disconnect between his Human Self and his "Beast" Self in order to cope with everything going on with him now... He's going to wolf out when he feels the Darkwalker's influence being so strong within him again, and end up losing his mind to it. I am all for confrontations with Fully Feral Wolf!ward 🐺 He'll be out for blood and in peak strength thanks to the Darkwalker pumping him up so much, so he'd be a pretty powerful opponent, but I'm totally down for people to use their own feats or skills against him. I'd prefer him not to die or be too horrifically injured, so maybe we can plan a way for this to end where both parties don't wind up too bad off :') He could be knocked out, captured, or perhaps the Power of Friendship could come into play alongside those things, but it'll take a lot of effort since he has the Darkwalker boost.

Before he loses it completely, the wolf will still retain some loyalty towards those he's attached to, so there's the potential for him to help someone out a bit if they're being attacked... He will be slaughtering one NPC while defending Wynonna Earp, and I'm totally down to add to that list... People who are used to his wolf form being a very docile and nervous good boy might notice that he's changed a lot now that Ned has the Darkwalker's Cursed Gift in him!!

Punch him all you want, though. But he's also vicious once he gets going, and he's well trained. If he's lacking in skill, he'll make up for it just by going full tilt. I don't actually like writing fight threads so a lot of this would probably be handwaved, but tl;dr fight fight fight.
He will see the sight in the sky and will probably bitch about how he wants to fight the Darkwalker himself.

What a surprise. Dorian's definitely going to be a bit more of an ass than usual—this is a good opportunity for some of his 'surprise, I'm a secret immortal' secrets to come out because he holds like, 80% of the game in low regard.

This is going to culminate in Dorian killing one NPC and attempting to kill a few others/attempting to kill player characters if you wish. I am absolutely up for anybody just pinning him down, knocking him out, doing enough damage to rough him up and stop that shit, etc. Dorian is not very good at fighting! He'll be easy enough to knock out and lock in a closet.

AS THE DEAD SLEEP
Dorian has so much self-loathing and self-hatred that it tried to kill him one time. He absolutely has not gotten clarity on a lot of things he feels guilty about and will probably be headed out to the ravine in Milton multiple times throughout the month. I'm definitely up for him meeting people there after unburdening his guilt or having people help him out with unburdening his guilt.

However! This has the potential for threads with a lot of content warnings (suicide, death of an infant, Dorian killed his sister, losing someone to cognitive memory loss, etc.) I am absolutely not going to spring any of these on anybody ahead of time, but I'm not averse to threading things like this if you want some heavy stuff. If we don't plan things out ahead of time, I'll default to a guilt that isn't as heavy (most likely one of the various people who've died during Dorian's lifetime due to some supernatural bullshit that even though he couldn't stop it, he feels like he should.)

that being said, if you want something a bit lighter, Dorian does live at the church and is honestly going to consider moving depending on how many people unburden their sins there, godddd why do people actually have attachment to this building? Enemies/rivals/negative CR/people who just don't stomach him well are good with me, too (he's not difficult to dislike!), though I'd prefer to keep it from escalating into serious levels where the characters would want to outright kill each other. Petty gripes, unflattering gossip and/or some thrown punches are all fine.

For the event, I'd especially love to give him a chance to protect someone this time -- or almost lose it again and have someone successfully talk him down.

Unwanted CR: I'm good with romance if it happens naturally, but I'm also not specifically looking for it. It's not on Levi's list of priorities at the moment and his interest is usually low at the best of times.

Event Ideas:
ENOLA'S VISIT - sooo Lightbringer is the feat that I've been eyeing for him since I got in, with some glances at Efficient Machine and Cold Fusion, and I think I might just go for the original plan, though I'll sit on it a couple weeks probably. With Lightbringer, he'd be maxed out on Feats (and have the Cauterisation build as result.)

KICKBACK - oh boy oh boy. Levi is still haunted by last year's Summer Solstice, when he'd ended up killing someone in a blind rage. He's been wearing the talisman pretty religiously since then and mostly staying away from town, but I would love to play with this again in some way. Probably no murder this time (though depending on circumstances I could be convinced), but he'll likely feel/be aware of the pull.

I'd love for him to actually protect someone this time -- he's very strong for a little guy -- or, potentially, have a moment where he's about to snap but gets talked down. Alternatively, he could help heal someone's injuries. If anyone would be interested in either of these, let me know! Otherwise he's probably ditching Milton to go hide in a cabin alone so he doesn't hurt anyone.

AS THE DEAD SLEEP - he definitely has unfinished business, but I don't think even Darkwalker/Enola could make him bury his quest for revenge against the Beast. So it would likely be something more symbolic -- like his fallen comrades that he still feels responsible for carrying out the wishes of, for example.

SIGNAL VOID - he has no idea about electronics, and probably doesn't even have a radio. However he will gladly accompany someone else on their search for a bunker -- his soldier experience and Feat combination make him an excellent bodyguard.

Wanted CR: Anyone with space, lab rat, or weird supernatural experience back in people's home worlds (Kostya is wanting to learn more about his own situation but also about anyone equally-supernaturally-cursed), other ~heroic types, anyone who knows anything about ALIENS.... fellow parents, young folks to hit his Guilty Failed Dad Button, fellow extroverted folks to chat & hang with, people to do physical fitness / training with him (he's also probably going to be establishing that "gym / fitness center" he's been talking about for some months if anyone wants to help with that)... While I'm still planning some of this / will be seeing what his close cr is getting up to with it, I think Kostya will be launching into Hero Mode and trying to help as many people as he can — especially since this time, he has the Old Bear's Blessing feat granting him super strength. He will still have a tendency to fall to violence, but I think it'll be geared mostly towards that feat fueling his Angry Protectiveness over the people he cares about, so there's potential for him to get into altercations for sure, but it could be played around with in different ways. I can also see him getting violent to try and stop... someone else's violence... He also comes with a gnarly alien parasite who can make an appearance for added flavour — or not! The thing has already killed an Interloper in a bloodbath before, so....

as the dead sleep. I'm still debating on this one, because there are certainly things Kostya could let go of — mostly involving his son or his "previous self", a Hero of the Soviet Union. However.... he's actually been re-gaining his connection to those things as of late, so it might be more suiting for him to feel the compulsion but manage to ignore it / it isn't quite as strong for him?? I'd be interested in him accompanying someone else putting something to rest!

I’m probably giving Zoey Aurora Call as her final feat. It’s the closest one to her old powers, and she’ll enjoy feeling more like herself at least a little. Plus it'll be fun to open her up to more mental shenanigans. And she’s already moontouched and lightbringered. Given the powers that she lost, she’s going to have a leg up on learning how to control and use Aurora Call, but if her close CR wants to get some brain messages in the brief moments where she falters a little getting the hang of it in the beginning, I’d be here for it.

THE AURORA: KICKBACK
Zoey has a talisman, so she’s going to be herself, but I am absolutely here for her taking one hell of a beating trying to not hurt someone who isn’t. Trying to talk them down and get them controlled/back to themselves or knocked out and no longer a danger, but not really wanting to hurt them even though she absolutely could. Fine with her either finally getting through with the power of friendship, or letting herself knock them out when she can’t get through. Or another character stepping in to help.

AS THE DEAD SLEEP
Not gonna lie, I kind of want Zoey to need to lay something to rest but not be quite sure what, exactly, it is. Maybe something she hasn’t been able to put into words, or something she’s shoved down since becoming the multiverse’s plaything. She’s been yanked around a LONG time and been through a lot. Lost a lot of people. But she just knows there’s something she needs to lay to rest. She may go where there’s water, or build a little cairn or something, performing some ancient ritual, for whatever it ends up being.

Hell yes exploration for supplies and unknown hidden spots. Count Zoey in. She might not be in the best shape due to the aforementioned ass-beating but she’s going anyway. She knows morse code well enough to be able to piece things together I think.

He’s not really a truly angry person, nor does he struggle with truly dark thoughts, but being here has made him kind of worn thin and just frustrated with all the bullshit and fear that comes along with being here. It might be interesting to do something with that so it would be interesting to have him air some grievances—verbally only on his behalf and probably nothing too bad, but I’m not married tot hat idea just yet and may abandon it all together because, again, that’s not really who he is so he may just be the one helping others. BUT PLEASE air your grievances with him about his guitar paying at all hours of the night.

I’m kicking around some ideas here and would like to do something with it, but what I go with very well might change when the event goes up. Eddie can let go of some things. I’m toying with the idea of him finally letting go of his guilt over what happened back home, or finally letting go of the fear that he might be dead back home. I mean, he is, but he doesn’t actually know that and it really eats away at him.

Lightbringer Aurora Feat: Its time for Louis's Lightbringer era! He needs to accidentally and on purpose burn so many things and people! He has an association with fire in canon... I'll leave it at that. :)

As the Dead Sleep:Lestat disappeared from here and Louis has been in a state since, hallucinating his murderer/maker/husband/ex/it's-complicated all over the place. He's going to feel compelled to do something to lay Lestat's memory to rest. (This will not help, he will not let him go, but perhaps Louis will stabilize a little.) Witness a classic Louis freakout where he feels compelled to burn Lestat's house down for closure, and also he's still partly in the closet!! Louis will be out of a house (his own was burned down by cultists last year) and will sleep in his General Store. It's what he deserves.

Kickback: When pushed, Louis does a lot of murder. Someone offends him? Murder! Hangry? Murder! He hungers for blood and gets weird and Catholic-guilty about it. He likes to think of himself as civilized, but his thirst for blood has led him to places one wouldn't go with a gun.

For the second part of the prompt, anger issues are unfortunately a key part of Charles' character, so he'll pretty easily fall victim to the Darkwalker's influence. Under that influence though, I want him to accidentally kill someone (with his own hands, not in a supernatural way) for the first time this month. It's time for some really angsty character moments.

‣ As the Dead Sleep: He'll deal with that angst from the kill by burying his long-beloved cricket bat, in an act that will also sort of represent putting his old (after)life to rest (ha). He's been here a year now and is doing a lot of thinking about who he is without the hope of finding a way back home and getting to be a detective with his BFF again. So he'll probably need some help trying to bury a big bat in the frozen ground. And after that, feel free to help him pick out a new signature weapon.

I like the idea of that power. Teddy does truly believe that everyone’s connected and that caring and helping each other is core to everything — and also, though they haven’t gotten to stretch it in a while, loves being in front of a crowd and is good at it — but they’re also prone to hermit-ing and feeling very isolated and ineffectual in the face of their own flaws and the world being a mess. Aurora Call seems like the perfect exaggeration of those traits.

Anyway, that one doesn’t seem super interactive BUT I do want to play with them fucking up telepathy in the next month(s). Blasting songs stuck in their head, projecting embarrassing or silly thoughts, accidentally revealing the whole gender thing to a conversational partner (great way to force it to come up) — there are so many possibilities.
- People who have Aurora Call and want to make help them shut up are welcome!
- People who need to be saved from their primal urges via The Power of Friendship, hmu!

Kickback: Somehow over the last like week of writing this slowly in a note on my phone and not getting to posting it, I’ve gotten attached to Teddy putting themself between people and murder? Seeing as he'll have just obtained the Lightbringer feat, there's also a good chance of this being when he accidentally sets something on fire. I'm also down for him to get into verbal altercations as well!

As the Dead Sleep: (cw for mentions of child abuse and parental murder) I'm thinking for this the unfinished thing Tim will be seeking closure for will be the desire to kill his abusive father when he was eighteen, that he never got to do because his dad died in a drunk driving accident when he was at boot camp. It's the reason he went into the military to begin with (which became such a huge part of his identity and his damage), he's got a lot of hangups over it, he'll be burying a bullet that represents the one meant to kill his father if anyone wants to join him :')
