goddd ok i keep meaning to reach out and life keeps sidelining me but i DEFINITELY want these two to meet. vasiliy is a 1930s russian communist who comes from the same socioeconomic background (possibly lower but it's hard to tell based on only what we see in the terror canon) and his sympathies by default are going to lean with people closer to his own demographic - i think he'd sympathize with hickey as a working class man in an era where climbing the social ladder was more or less impossible in england, and in tending little's wounds he found out that the enlisted men got lead poisoning worst and first and weren't eating the same fresh meat the officers were, so he's like, primed already.

i just think it'd be pretty neat for hickey to (if he eventually shares what happened) encounter someone who isn't 100% like 'you are evil' and also puts words to the (downright heretical in victorian times) idea that the officer class isn't innately better than he is. like the whole thing with the dog being on the deck? ohhh vasiliy would have some things to say about THAT one boys...

This sounds like it's got the potential for AMAZING cr. Hickey would definitely mention a few details about the expedition, most notably those that would make him look better (namely the whole 'yeah, I figured out that the tins were poisoned so I killed and ate a dog, does that make me the bad guy??? or are the true bad guys the people who didn't tell us the tins were poisoned') so it is VERY likely that vasily would get a rant about how all those officers suck ass.
