Welcome to the another round of the CR Meme! It's time to touch base with where players are at with their characters in game and look towards the future! While not a requirement, CR Memes are helpful in forging connections with others, along with general housekeeping for what characters are up to in during their time in game.
Below is a helpful form to use in laying out your thoughts!
I waffled a little bit on how to respond to this, because I'm not sure how negative is too negative for you, and this likely would not be intensely negative, but...
Lalo is bisexual and closeted about it. This is generally more because he's from 2004 when a lot of people were really homophobic (esp criminals like he is) than out of any personal shame, although he does have a little bit of personal shame about it as well since he worries his Tio might not accept it and his Tio's opinion is important to him. He doesn't think being gay/bi is morally wrong (and lbr he wouldn't care if he did), but he does struggle with feeling like his bisexuality makes him "less of a man."
What I'm saying is: Lalo would not be super negative or mean about it, and he wouldn't tell him being gay is wrong, and would prob tell him that a lot more people are prob gay/bi than he thinks - HOWEVER he would also be highly likely to say shit like, "but you have to be careful who you tell and some people will use it against you." He'd be open about not being straight himself but whether he'd share his own ambivalences about that with someone so much younger depends on how the conversation went, but it's not out of the question.
Tl;dr - I think it could be an interesting conversation! But I would also understand if it's maybe a little bit more complex or ambivalent for what you're looking for so early on, and would like to give him so more purely positive experiences first.
That actually sounds like it could be super interesting! By negative mostly I'm not looking for outright rejection -- without babbling on too long, less than 12 hours before Jason turns up involves being first outed by a very judgemental friend to his entire school, and then told outright by a priest that it's not okay, so really that's my very low bar to clear here. XD And "be careful who you tell" is still a step up from Jason's own view of "no one will accept it ever unless they also struggle with it", too.
(Also, while Bare is pretty vague about when it's set, I tend towards using early-mid 2000s when the first couple of productions were done, so while he's used to a very different kind of people, the general level of social acceptance is a lot closer to Lalo's than it is to someone more circa 2023, which could also add an interesting element.)
ANYWAY the short version is yes, I would definitely be up for this. It is going to take either a little time or someone outright figuring him out for it to come up, because of everything mentioned above, but I'd be happy to shove them together some point soon and see how things develop from there. :D
Oh, that's great! I'm so glad to hear that. :D I definitely agree it could be interesting, also agree it might take some time and I'm not sure 100% yet how it would come up, but! I'm sure we can figure something out eventually!
In the meantime, does Jason have any open posts anywhere/tls for the event? I'd be happy to try throwing them together for now just to see how they mesh.
There's an event tl here! Don't mind all the owed tags Thanksgiving took it out of me. I'll probably hold off to see if there's anything I want to do with the TDM prompts in December before putting up anything else. :D
