Town Meeting

Town Meeting

Town Meeting

With the recent events that have transpired in regards to Young Bill's plan to starve out the Forest Talkers — the eco-terrorist group that has been hounding him and leaving macabre scenes all over the Lakeside area, Interlopers have called a town meeting to discuss what to do on this.

Rather than playing out the Town Meeting, like with the Darkwalker's second attack, consider this post an OOC post of that meeting, for players to share their character's thoughts and feelings on the situation — along with the best approach in regards to Young Bill's proposal.

Players are free to thread out scenes from the Town Meeting in their own event toplevels/open posts if they wish to do so — but this is more of a quick catchall on character's thoughts that's more accessible to everyone — and players can have their characters +1 ideas they agree with!

Please fill out the following form.

EDIT: THERE IS A POLL FOR INTERLOPERS TO VOTE ON

Character Name: RJ Maccready

Character Thoughts/Ideas:
• Maccready will be actively against taking food from the caches, or instigating hostilities towards the Forest Talkers once he's aware there are teens involved. Related to that, he'd be wary of the idea of kidnapping; generally anything that could be seen as incitement is liable to cause retaliation against the Interlopers or Milton as a whole. If the kidnapping plot goes ahead, he would want to see Interlopers putting preperation in place for backlash; bolstering their patrols in some meaningful way, and insist anyone unfamiliar with handling firearms make an effort to begin learning. The fact the Interlopers are currently split between Milton and Lakeside, with no means of instant emergency communication between the two groups if either one is ambushed, is also be something he would mention.

• Knowing that there are teens involved, he'd posit if there is any potential way to communicate with them and convince them to defect from the Forest Talkers — he supports leaving notes within the caches to make headway on this front. Whether this ultimately means getting them on board with the Interlopers or not is, in his opinion, better left for others to discuss. Generally he has no interest in whomever seems to be leading the Forest Talkers; whatever happens to them is likely fully deserved, but he's cautious about maintaining the safety of the Interlopers first and foremost.

• While he is hestitant in participating outside of looting some caches; he would put forward the fact that he's also capable of scouting, tracking, and a proficient sniper. He'd rather that be seen as a kind of last resort, though.

Preparing for backlash/hostiles coming from the mines is smart either way.

Senku would have a couple suggestions in terms of emergency communication & backlash prep!

First, for communication: smoke signals! He'd recommend they come up with some codes that can communicate necessary information to each town at a glance -- e.g. how many signals, how far apart, what color, etc. For instance, one smoke signal might indicate the presence of under 10 hostiles whereas two would indicate up to 20 and three 30 and so on. Maybe green smoke indicates a request for backup while red indicates people in Milton prepare to be invaded, and how far apart the signals are is a gauge of the urgency of the distress call.

Second, he'd suggest that if they go forward with the kidnapping plan, they remove all the ammo from the caches and evacuate Lakeside temporarily save for the people directly involved. And although he wouldn't be on board with rigging the mine to collapse, he would see it as a good bottleneck to stop the Talkers from harming anyone by setting up some nonlethal traps throughout.

Zoey REALLY doesn't want things to escalate and starving them out and kidnapping one of them seems like that could escalate things badly. So preparation for backlash is a great idea.
