How the fuck do you be a 'professor of firearms?' That one's the lie.

You do it by becomin' an Instructor of Firearms, as a certified expert. Only a lie in the twist of the word. I taught for about 4 years.

Without their permission either, but that's alright. I'm only 'transportin' it to wherever I'm goin' and back again.

It is. Not that this place has any real roads that would make drivin' fun, but there's somethin' magical about nothin' but open road and a motor that handles a hundred and twenty miles per hour without a hitch.

I suppose it's as common to steal them as it is to steal horses.

I'm guessing two is the lie. It seems like a pretty big leap from priest to Marshal.

Good guess. Correct one too. I could make a case for priest to Marshal but havin' a preacher for a grandfather throws a wrench into that particular gear.

Ah — it must have been interesting, having a preacher for a grandfather. [ He smiles. ] Konstantin Veshnyakov. I suppose it makes more sense for this game to comment to someone you know, but I couldn't resist! It seems like a fun way to get to know someone.

Interestin' is a way to put it, yes. Thankfully, he died when I was small and all that's left is unflatterin' stories and moonshine recipes.

And I'm inclined to agree, even if it is a bit strange. I suppose there are worse ways to spend our time. A pleasure to meet you, assumin' you don't have anything against federal agents. [His tone suggested he knew the man didn't - the response had been far too friendly for such a thing.]

I don't have an issue with priests themselves, only their push of God on anyone they happen to see. There's a line between spreadin' the good word and beatin' people with it.

There is a thin between the two, I admit. Is that why you would to be priest, then? To show a better way?

No. [He half laughs the word out.] No, the priesthood was never somethin' that I would see myself doin'. Not sure what I would do if I weren't a Marshal, to be honest.

Then it is your lie. Being a priest was not your interest at all.

I admit I feel somewhat disappointed.

What kind of criminals? Don't tell me you're in deep with the cartel.

[ Don't mind Lalo, he's enjoying his private little joke. ]

Only when they're stupid enough to store wealth on US Soil and get caught. It's happened more than a few times, but you dig too deep in on anyone well connected, you're sure to hit a mob connection of some type or another. Then again, there's just as many white collar criminals that fuck around and find out just what we can confiscate without more than a word and a piece of paper.

Real nice to sample the life without havin' to worry about payin' taxes.

[ Lalo lets out a long, low whistle. ] Ain't that something! No telling what some people are capable of. [ He shakes his head sadly, as someone who is dumb enough to get caught but stores all of his wealth in Mexico. The cops had confiscated his car, though. Too bad. Oh, well. It happens. Good thing he's got a few more south of the border! ]

You got a favorite? Bet you've got some real beauties in your collection. [ Lalo sounds impressed. ]

[Oh there was plenty of telling what people are capable of, no 'some' about it, but who was he to take the shine off Lalo's outlook on life. But Raylan could talk enthusiastically about a few things - assholes, idiots, mining, cars and baseball.]

We've had some shiners come through the auction house, but I'm always happy when we manage across a Porsche Cayman or Ferrari. Ain't hard to find a mostly flat road somewhere or somethin' to do on the other end of the drive.

I imagine with all that pharmaceutical money, you've got an actual collection yourself? [Raylan didn't even own the car he drove, if he were being honest and it had been a decade plus since he had.] What do you like drivin'?

[ It's one of the things Lalo finds most enjoyable about Raylan's company, as matter of fact. How readily and easily he talks about a variety of topics. ]

You know it! Got a whole fleet of real beauties. My favorite is [ well, was ] my Chevorlet Monte Carlo. 1970. Old-school. They don't make 'em like that anymore.
